Default Surprising results from cam install (BTR Stage 3)

Had a BTR Stage 3 cam installed on my M6 LS2 Vette over the past week. Other than that all I have done to the car is TSP LTs and a Vararam intake. 481rwhp and 400rwtq.

Is it it just me or do I have a factory freak? I was expecting around 440-450rwhp.

Now I’m curious as to what my 1/4 mile time would be if I could hook up. Might have to test it out this spring

I'm not really a dyno guy and my bolt on car has never been on one but those are some strong numbers. FWIW I figure my car makes around 400 and it will run high tens. Your car should really fly with almost 500.

400 HP and you run 10's? I find that very hard to believe.

When you are looking for absolute numbers regarding a modification, it's always a good idea to dyno the car before the modifications are made, and then again after they are completed... on the same dyno. This will give you a better indication of the actual improvement you got.
I say this because I know from experience that different dynos will provide results that vary as much as 10% or more.

Also, many people don't realize that the dyno operator can easily adjust the software to alter the final numbers.

No way does a BTR 3 cam & headers give you 481 hp at the wheels, a typical stock LS2 puts down 345-360 rwhp. A cam & headers isn't going to gain you 100+ hp

Just going off the dyno numbers from a very well respected shop in NE Ohio. Here is the video.

Nice Red
The different dyno theory is real. I expected more form my car after headers, intake and tune but it didn't live up to what I thought, so I went hunting for answers on the web concerning dyno results fr0m different machines, some read high as opposed to some read lower. I talked with other members who had same mods and used the same dyno and they had almost identical numbers. Then I talked with others who used a different dyno make and their numbers were where I thought mine should have been, some 40+ rwhp.
After all is said and done its a tuning tool, the results are in your butt so to speak, I know my car runs a lot harder and that's all I can say

i picked up 52 WHP on my ls1 camaro by adding a cam. every other mod stayed the same except the cam, injectors and FP

my 401 WHP camaro SS runs a 11.30 and weighs 3800 lbs so if he is at the same hp and 300 lbs less than that would be 11.00 or 10.99999 every 100 lb loss is good for a 1/10th

An LS2 makes 400 hp at the crank. If you figure 15% drivetrain loss avg., that makes 340 hp at the rear tires. If your car makes 481 hp at the tires, thats a gain of 141 hp. I dont think a cam, headers, and CAI is going to make that kind of hp. My Z06 after cam, headers, CAI, and tune gained 50 hp at the tires. I hate to say, but I think someone is pulling your leg. Sorry, just my opinion.

Yep, possibly I am getting my leg pulled. Just reported my dyno numbers and was asking why they were so high.

481RWHP vs 420RWHP doesn't matter that much to me. I'm still going to be too mature to drive this car to its full potential. Its hell getting old and actually worrying about speeding tickets.

I clearly said my car has never been on a dyno but i guess its about 400 wheel HP considering it only has headers and a Veraram. It has run a best of 11.0 @123.6 and that was before I found out that you have to overfill the transmission or it wont shift. On my 11.0 run i had to let off to let it shift and then get back on it. I'm going in a few weeks and i feel confident it will run 10.80s. You don't have to believe me but it is what it is.

Thank you. Since 82 I have almost 2000 runs to date. God willing I hope to make 2000 more.
