Default Replacing pass side seatback lever

Just bought a 2013 C6 1LT base model. The passenger side seatback lever was in the glove box. It was cracked where it mounted to the stud that comes out of the side of the seat. Now, there's not enough of the stud sticking out to press on the new lever. What to do?

The stud is not out far enough go grab on to it. Is there something I can do short of removing the seat and going at it on my work bench? I've tried accessing it from the bottom side. Hand too big and not enough room.

If I have to remove the seat, what's the procedure for removing the front bolt covers? I pried on them a little, but didn't want to break them.

If this has already been covered in a previous thread, please direct me to that thread. Help appreciated.
