C6 vs. C7 Video - Which one should you buy?
Guys,
I am in the process of deciding if I want to purchase a different vette. I put together this video as part of that process. Maybe it will help you decide as well. Enjoy.

The C7 is a better a car because GM built it because they used the C6 as a baseline that they were going to beat. They hit it out of the park. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but you guys must be blind to think the C6 looks better than the C7. You know they sold close to 40,000 cars the first year when the C6 was down to around 15,000 the last year. They did a lot right.

If I were to get another Corvette before its time for the nursing home my next dream Corvette would be a 2013 ZR1.

It’s a no brainer for me. The CG GS was my last new Vette purchase. Even if I could get past the ugly rear end(which I can’t) I have no desire for the problematic 8spd auto or the cylinder deactivation in the LT1. The quality of the C7 has been poor even this late into the production run. I’d rather add a classic Chevelle to the stable vs selling or trading my Grand Sport in for a new Vette.

The C7 is a superior car in every way. I loved by 09 C6.

The C7 is a slower top-end car with slower 0-100mph times and a very cheap interior, even in 3LT compared to the GS 4LT. I found the seats very uncomfortable with my left elbow crushed against the door panel and zero headroom.
The glitzy, cheap digital-dash of the C7 was unacceptable as well and reminded me of a C4 but less cool.
The digital e-brake was the final breaking point (plus the worst rear lights of all time on any Vette).
C6 is far superior in every way .. except for that new ZR1. All hail the new King.

I took a look at a C7 GS at my local dealer when picking my car up after having the clutch master cylinder replaced under the recall. Salesman was very quick to come help me when he saw me pull up in my C6 and start looking at the GS. He went and got the key, I sat down, hit my head on the roof, and then got out and left. I also sat in a friend's Z06 and hit my head in that one too. No C7 for me.

Easy choice. C7 hands down. Better car or GM would not have built it. Anyone tells you otherwise is kidding themselves.

my brother has a C7. Nice car. doesn't feel any faster but has a nicer interior and more electronic conveniences.
The looks of the C7 are growing on me (except for the rear end). I still don't think it's as cleanly styled as the C6. I know the first year had some reliability issues.

Only having sat in a C7 so far, I can only compare my C6Z to the C7 in these ways.
1. C6 stying overall is more is less busy and schizophrenic. All the vents on the C7 and jagged edges make my eyes twitch, especially the C7Z with the fake black plastic fender flares.
2. C7 interior quality seems better than the C6.
3. C7 interior space is horrendous compared to the C6. If you like claustrophobia, you'll like the C7.
4. Both cars sound great.
5. The C7's 7 speed manual, with 2 overdrive gears, seems pointless. 6 gears makes more sense.
6. Can't really update the interior complicated electronics and components of the C7 without massive $ and effort. C6 can be upgraded in almost any and every way.
7. I like analog gauges and dashes, so the C7 seems over-complicated in that regard.
8. Half will agree, the other half disagree, but the C7 rear end does not look right. I don't mind GM going a different direction - every car needs a makeover from time to time - but the drastic nature of the change and having half the bumper body color and the other black plastic - just no. Nuh huh.
9. The C6 has smoother and cleaner lines. Everything from the pillars to the slope of the halo and roof to the hood and trunk/back glass. The C7 seems choppy in comparison. Imagine if Porsche decided to make their 911 so choppy and discombobulated? It takes away from the classic design.
10. I like the C7 front end a bit better than the C6. But why put that cheesy chrome strip through the middle of the huge vent intake?

The C7 is far more advanced. But when I see one on the road I barely notice it. I didn't like the styling when it came out in 2014 and I still don't like it.
On the other hand, I can't walk in or out of my garage without looking at my silver 2013 C6 GS coupe. Five years later I still love its classic Corvette styling.
In the end, that's what its all about. I just cannot buy a car I don't like the looks of . . . like a Porsche 911. I've passed on many outstanding cars in my life because I didn't like they way they looked . . . .and the C7 is also on that list for me. I fully believe its a great sports car.
At this point I like the Camaros much more than the C7 . . . that (or a Cadillac) might be my next move if I stay with GM..

GM built the '58 Chevy after the better '57 (Yikes!!)
GM built the Chevette, Vega, Cimarron, Citation, '78 corvette, Olds Diesel, Uplander, Metro, Geo, Lumina, Aztek, etc., etc., ...
ALL were built to be better than what came before them.
If you know anything about planned obsolescence, apply that to automobiles. It explains why the next, newest, best-ever item sometimes falls flat on it's face when compared to previous versions.
That does not mean the C6 is a better vehicle, but the C7 is not automatically better simply because GM built it.

If money wasnt a thing I would get a C7.. but getting a C6 at the price they are now is a no brainer. Looks are subjective. I love them both. But in the real world the C6 is the better value. A C6 z06 for 35k or a used C7 for 40k+... Ill take the power and wide body of the Z06 alll day.

I test drove a C7 before I made my decision on a C6Z. I liked the HUD in the C7 but found the cabin to be too cramped. I also prefer the look of the wide body C6 over a C7. I didn't get a chance to sit in a C7 GS or C7Z but if the cabin is the same as the Stingray, a C7 will not be in my future.

As I posted above, its absolutley a great car. It just no longer looks like a Corvette to me. Just a cheap copy of a cheap Ferrari. I'll pass.

I didn't realize that the C6 and C7 had the same exact gear ratios with just the third OD on the C7.
Actually, that would allow you to lower your rear gearing quite a bit and still have acceptable highway cruising rpms. A 3.73 would be pretty sweet in the C7. A 4.11 would even be livable.
