What is the best brand of battery to put in my 2005 C6 Convertible base.

You'll get many opinions.

Some say Optima Red Top

Some say an OEM battery from the dealer

Some say the AC Delco AGM Pro

Some will say Interstate

Some will tell you to go to wallyworld and get whatever they have because they are mostly all made in the same place anyways.

I take option 2, because I like the visual appearance of an OEM battery.

After some digging I found others having great luck with the Northstar 34/78 and people say it fits so I have one on the way. Provided it fits well the numbers and warranty look to be on point.

Hands down the best batteries I have ever bought were Interstate!

Last Interstate I retired was in my 1972 Big Block Corvette, battery was 7 years old and still load tested fine! I replaced it anyway and gave the 7 year old interstate away!

Don’t know if it’s the best but I went with autozone.

My original battery went 12 years so when I had to replace it I went with factory Delco optional battery.

I am on my second Optima yellow top. Factory battery I had to replace every 2 years in FL, the last Optima lasted me 7 years.

I did A LOT of research on batteries a few years back and found that most all are made by Johnson Controls these days, no matter whose name is on it. AC Delco is still their own, but I have had a lot of troubles with them, in fact just last night I was helping my neighbor remove his 2yo AC Delco on his C4. Being most all batteries are Johnson, I then looked at performance, warranties and price, and with that found that Wal-Mart, a Johnson Control battery had the best warranty and best price, and being there are Wal-Marts in every po-dunk town in the US, I figured that was the place to go. In fact this year, I had one of theirs acting flaky in a 3 yo car. I ran the car over, they tested it and yes it was bad, so they replaced it and told me there was a charge......$.03, which they waved. At this point I have had Wal-Mart batteries in most every car I have owned, and only every had one that had to even be replaced. At over $30-70 less than other Johnson batteries under different brands, Wal-Mart is my choice.

I just replaced an OEM battery on my 2011 Yukon and found out that Johnson Controls makes the batteries for the following brands; AutoZone, ACDelco and Interstate among many others. The longer the warranty, the more expensive. I picked an Interstate because it had higher CCAs and reserve over the ACDelco and it was less expensive. The cases of the Interstate, AutoZone and ACDelco were identical. It is my understanding that the individual brands spec out to Johnson Control on their batteries. After purchasing the Interstate I noticed Menards was selling the ACDelco in their store. It was $2.00 more. Exide is the other battery manufacturer. All brands have been going on sale lately so go with the best deal. An ACDelco from the dealership is pricey and I would not hesitate to purchase elsewhere.

A lot of us went with the same AC Delco that came with the car. The price is reasonable too.

That is what I usually do. Order online with a discount and then go to the store. They will install it while you watch. Even in a Corvette.

I've been buying Optima yellow top batteries for the last 17 yrs because of all the extra electronic devices in my GMC Savana conversion van with 4 kids, 5 counting me! I think I'm on my 2nd yellow top now. I was figuring I'd stick with an Optima yellow top for my 2012 GS CE when the time came, but noticed they are up to almost $300 at Summit Racing, that's almost a $100 increase from my last one I bought at Costco! That and I read on this forum that they're made in Mexico now. Also read how Optima highly recommends using their special $200 Optima battery charger to get the most life out of their batteries. Independent tests confirmed their charger does indeed work better. I recently went 3+ weeks w/o using the Savana and the yellow top wouldn't start it. Put the Sears Die Hard charger on it set on 15 amps. 24 hrs later it still wasn't up to 100% charged. Not sure how many years old this yellow top is, but was seriously interested Optima's charger if it could get it back up to 100%. It's supposedly a great charger but offers no 50 or 100 amp jump start option. The lack of the jump start option/feature doesn't bother me too much cuz I'm getting one of those NOCO pocket size portable jump starter/chargers fairly soon. My Vette can go 2 to 3 weeks without starting problems and/or a trickle charger. If I don't go Optima, I'd go Interstate, especially considering the price.

I replaced the OEM AC Delco with an Interstate several months ago. The Interstate had more CCA and better reserve. Price was a little cheaper plus got free installation.
