Dustin is a real asset to the Corvette community in the Reno area..a very technically competent individual, fair, and generally all around nice guy. Has a tremendous reputation with Reno Corvettes Club for all the right reasons. His shop is the "go to" location for performance and dyno jobs here.

Should take the poser badge off the sides of it.

Eh, no issue with adding wide body fenders or making the car look more aggressive through body panels. I wouldn't say "Buy a GS instead" but no need to add the GS badges, just black them out or put something else on the GS part.

:Isn't Grand Sport just an appearance package? I didn't think it improved power or handling. I could be wrong. However, if that is accurate then if the OP's modifications mimic that appearance successfully I don't have any real issue with the GS badges.

FWIW, I've heard it mentioned several times that stock vs stock a base car will outperform a GS (at least in 1/4 mile and/or 0-60 sprints).

****nevermind...I just realized the car in question is a 2005****

It does look really good!

You could be very wrong. Just for starters did you even know the GS is it's own model? Here's what seperates a Grand Sport from the base:

The GS or Grand Sport is equipped with the following enhancements:
  • Specific manual transmission with different gear ratios
  • Larger/stiffer anti-sway bars
  • Stiffer springs
  • Revised shocks
  • Larger Z06 rear spoiler
  • Transmission cooler
  • Functional front and rear brake ducts for added brake system cooling
  • Unique light weight forged aluminum 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels (painted finish standard and chromed finish optional)
  • Z06 brakes, including cross-drilled 355 mm (14.0 in) front rotors and 340 mm (13 in) rear rotors
  • Specific rear axle ratio on automatic transmission equipped models
  • Can be ordered with 1LT, 2LT, 3LT and 4LT trim packages.
  • Wider front and rear fenders with integrated Grand Sport badges
  • Wider 275/35ZR18 tires in the front
  • Wider 325/30ZR19 tires in the rear
  • 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers
  • Dry-sump oil system (Coupes equipped with manual transmissions only)
  • Hand-built LS3 6.2L V8 (Coupes equipped with manual transmissions only)
  • Manual models also include launch control.

....but was I wrong about the base being quicker 0-60 and through the 1/4 mile than the GS?

From the forum 1/4 mile speeds...looks as though the base is quicker.

The GS is not the car for 0-60 pulls or 1/4 mile racing.

Every Corvette model has its strengths and weaknesses.

Corvettes do things other than accelerate in straight lines.

Yeah....but that's what they do best. That is how the Corvette reputation/legend was built.

Straight line accel? Seriously?

The Corvette heritage was road racing, not drag racing. These cars were no slouches in the curves.
