Glasspacks anyone?
Hi guys. As the thread title suggests I'm looking to see if anyone has any experience with or opinions on glasspacks...such as Cherry Bomb....on their cars. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
I found some information on the topic but a lot of it was conflicting. I stumbled upon everything from "they won't work/fit" to "they won't sound good" to "that sounds interesting" to videos of people who have them installed and what they sound like.
The Cherry Bombs come in a 2.5 inch inlet/outlet diameter and in various lengths. Would a 16 inch fit?

Only if you want the car to sound like a garbage truck, and have lots of drone to the exhaust system as well.
Hence really two things that a muffler system needs to do for a Vet,
1 is that is needs to produce a tone and output level that one likes.
2 is that the muffler system does not drone at anywhere in a RPM level as well.
So about the only two systems that I know of that do the both of the above (does not drone anywhere in the RPM's being the huge one) is the Borla and current Corsa system.
Note, the old Corsa stinger systems had drown.
The Corsa system tone is that of more of a V-10 higher pitch sound.
The Borla system is more of the lower tone muscle car sound instead.
As for sound output levels, both have three stages of systems from the quieter side, to the louder side in the end.
And trust me, you install a exhaust system that drones, and it will be shorted lived with that amount of time you will able to stand such; with the system begin ripped out in a mater of weeks.
As for the best of both worlds (quiet when you need it quiet, and loud when you want it loud), that would be the OEM NPP system.
Note, the NPP does drown with it left in the loud mode.

Try these...

Put a set on a truck I had a year ago, it sounded great with no drone. So many stock Mid pipes for sale you could try it and if you don't like it put a stock mid back on. It might sound great for cheap!!

Well, I had glass pack exhaust systems back in the 1970s.
They use to "burn out" farily quickly and get louder over time.
I am sure they moaned and droned, yet I don't recall specifics.
I imagine he OP is considering removing the OEM mufflers and then installing straight glass packs into this location. Plus perhaps working with a budget.
I am swayed to recommend to look toward some other mufflers (Borla, Billy Boat and all the names) that are race track products.
No mention of whether the OP car already has Long Tubes, Cats, X pipe, NPP variable mufflers.
FWIW I would not do glass packs and instead install header first with what ever mufflers are currently on the car and then evaluate tone/ sound.
Best of luck in your decision.

Lots of dicks out this morning.
As I said, I've heard all the arguments against and even some in favor of the still currently produced Cherry Bombe and (this is for you 449er) Thrush glasspack exhaust.
Doesn't seem like anyone (yet) who has experience with this setup on a C6 has come forward. However, for all those naysayers, Google C6 glasspacks. I saw several videos where they sounded just as good or better than Bullets or BillBoat exhaust.
Now as for the Commador64. They are now a cult item with quite a following and prices to match. I had one but recently sold it and used the money to buy a Panerai PAM243 M.

I would imagine that the drone would run you out of the car.

I'm pretty old, my first car was a 67 Mustang, first mod, cut the y-pipe, and bolt on a set of ASP mufflers, that's Arvin Speed Pac's. They sure would rattle the windows at the Baptist church, when I rolled by on Wednesday nights!
