Convertible. Why Not?

This will ruffle some feathers so I begin with each person is entitled to their own opinion.
That said, the vert is a feminine looking car, the coupe is more aggressive looking, a more serious looking muscle car.
For me, that's the only reason I didn't consider a vert. I love the open air which is why I had to have the targa top.
Either way I'm sure you'll do what's best for you. Good luck.

I have owned 3 Vettes, 2 verts and one coupe. I prefer the convertible, and think it looks better than a coupe, top up or down.
Contrary to what some have said, the vert is quieter with the top up than the coupe because you don't have the big echo chamber. Negatives are a vert is less secure than a coupe and less safe in an accident due to the lack of a top.

Convertible all of the way. I have owned 3 Vette's and all of them have been convertibles. Top down driving is great. Oh, we have 2015 Camaro 2SS RS vert too. And last but not least we do have a coupe.

I never thought I would want a convertible....when I bought the C6 new 10 years ago I had to decide. I had a C4 Coupe. Went with the vert and have never regretted it. It is a completely different driving experience with the wide open feel. A well cared for top will stay looking good...my black one still looks new and beads water like the day it was bought. But, you have to make the call....

No sir! I believe there are exceptions to every rule, especially when the rule isn't really a rule, just some dude's opinion. On rare occasions a car would look ridiculous with a hardtop, and the 427 Cobra is a good example.
To illustrate an example in the other direction... this looks like a chick car to me:

WOAAAAA here !!!! Have I seen several post here stating that the vert is louder on the inside than a coupe (which I agree with). But seems to me like I remember numerous threads with post (almost all) insisting that the vert has a quieter interior. Is forum bias rearing it's ugly head here ??.......

Another pro-Vert vs con-Coupe:
I've never heard of a Flying Roof Club for Verts, either.

In the five years we've had our coupe, the targa is off over 90% of the time. It's not a DD, it's our fun car. Like so many things, it's more fun with the top off!

For us, it's where you live. We have 3 'verts as you can see below. Driving the mountain roads, the national park, the Blue Ridge is a no-brainer for us. The sensations are amazing. We just have 3 months where it is out of the question (Dec Jan Feb).
We lived in Florida our entire working lives and with humidity, traffic, intense summer heat, just the opposite situation exists. We might own one 'vert for those occasional trips to the FL keys or coastal regions but we always had hard tops when we lived there.

For me it comes down to 2 things. Where you live and if your a Vert person.
I'm in N. Texas and thought I would like a Vert so I traded my 05 C6 coupe for a 06 Vert. Found out rather quickly I was not a Vert person and it was too hot to enjoy top down driving for 6 months. Daily driver here.
Traded the Vert for a 07 coupe and still love driving it every day.
Got to get what makes you happy.

Hello all. New to the forum. I am in the market for a 2008 -2010 C6. Really leaning towards a convertible. Other than the looks of the coup vs vert top up, what are some of the reasons for those who don't go with the convertible? If I look at coups, the market opens up a little more.
I am on my second coupe. I was looking for a nice vert when the one I now own popped up, and I had to have it. The only downsides I know of in a vert is the smaller trunk area, which still holds two sets of golf clubs, or all the groceries you will ever buy at one time, and a perceived (not real) lack of security from having a cloth top. I have not read of anyone who has had their vert broken into by someone cutting through the top.
As for looks, it depends on the color, IMO. To me, the black, or dark grey, on black vert is just as good-looking as any coupe, but not so in other colors. All other colors do not look bad in a vert, but are just not as sharp as a coupe in the same color.
About the targa top...Yes, it is nice to take the top off in good weather. But, if you put it in the trunk, there is not much room left. If you leave it at home, the car is wide open when you are shopping, at the movies, whatever. If you put the top back on, and forget to secure all the latches....whoo-hoo...flying top time. With a vert, none of these are an issue, so it is far more versatile than the targa top.
So, buy a black or dark grey with a black top, and enjoy the heck out of it.

My last Corvette, an 02 was a convertible.
Pros of a convertible-
Top Down driving
Car looks great with the top down
The waterfall looks cool
Cons of a convertible-
Top fabric upkeep and wear
Car does not look so great with the top up
Cabin not as quiet with the top up
Cannot use on a racetrack
Pros of a coupe-
Targa top on of off, it looks great
Glass and paint are more durable and look nicer than fabric
The teardrop back glass is classic
More luggage space
quieter ride
Cons of a coupe-
Can't think of one!
