Default Pretty Sure You Can Now Pull OBD2 Diagnostic Codes From OEM Nav Screen (pics)

I always knew about the hidden menu in the C6 Nav screen but didn't think you could pull up codes. Now granted I don't have any trouble codes in my 2013 GS and never did but I think they would show here if the car did. Maybe one of you guys with a present code can check to see if it shows. So here goes: Go to this part of the nav screen and hold your finger down on the screen right next to the yellow menu button until the Enter Pin screen appears. Enter the pin 295660. That will put the Nav in diagnostic mode and you can check a variety of different settings. One of the settings is diagnostic memory and that is where I think the codes would show up. Somebody give it a try and report back.

I'm pretty sure any codes related to an error with the nav might show up there. Not the whole car.

Could very well be true. However I was thinking with bluetooth, onstar and the oem all having interaction with each other and onstar being able to diagnose trouble codes remotely I thought there might be a chance.

There were multiple threads years ago of members trying to hack the oem nav to play dvd movies. In other GM cars from 10 years ago especially the Cadillac you could enter a pin number like here and you could change the settings to play dvd movies. What I showed on the oem nav is the farthest people have gotten with the C6.

Not me.

I have enough problems at this point I don't want to create one, even though I've known about the service only mode for more than a decade. I never knew any of this might show up on the dash/infotainment screen, if it even does for an '05?

Nice detective work...never know this....thank you.

(also unsure if this reports just Nav radio diagnostic or entire car systems)

Like I said earlier if someone who already has a code present could do this we would know for sure.

It will diagnose audio or video errors [note the A or V tabs on the diagnostic screen] pertaining to the head unit. It will not detect or display OBDII codes.
