Buying a 2011 GS Have questions
I have been off the forum for a few years. Had an 06, c6, auto. Had to sell for family reasons. Now back in the market and found a 2011 GS with auto trans and LT3 package, npp exhaust.
Are there any items in particular I should be checking. Does the LS3 have the HB issue the LS2 did? Car has clear Carfax and auto check. Maintenance records show regular maintenance. No outstanding recalls.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, the harmonic balancer issue is still there, but as you know it doesn't afflict all cars. And that issue would certainly not keep me from buying the car as it sounds like it's loaded with all the "good" options.

If it is what you are looking for, I'd go for it. Sounds like the maintenance has been kept up and it must look good or you would have moved on. I went from an 08 to a 12 GS and never looked back. My 08 gave me no problems in the 5 years I owned it. Hoping the GS is the same.

Run the VIN at your local Chevrolet dealer for a service history. You can also check the service bulletins issued for that year Corvette online, just google Chevrolet Corvette service bulletins. These cars are very reliable, usually the problems are with the "Nut behind the wheel".

Both the Grand Sport and the LS3 are both pretty solid platforms. I have the exact vehicle and I have had zero problems with it. Just look for the same things that you would with any other car. Are there signs of abuse or neglect? Has it been properly maintained? Does everything function as it supposed to? Are the fluids the right color? Get a vin check or CARFAX report? If all that checks out then you should be good to go.
Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

I've had my '11 GS 3LT for 4 1/2 years. 45k miles. Pretty much trouble free.

I went from a 2009 base convertible to a 2011 GS convertible with the same options. The only difference was the base was an auto, the GS a 6 manual. Like the 09, but really like the 11 GS. The 6m is more fun to drive. I keep the exhaust open most of the time. The only thing I don't like about the GS, is that it sits lower in the front end. You will find that the air dam up under the car will scrape a lot more than the 09 ever did. Only problem I have had in the several years of owning the GS, is the front end alignment. Tires on the front have inside wear and will need to be replaced soon. Tires have about 19,000 on them now. Otherwise tires would probably go another 5,000. My suggestion is to get the front end aligned as part of the sale, or at least have them check it. People suggest the PFADT alignment recommendations, but that's up for debate also.
The 09 had the same alignment problems, I'm told its a common problem.....

If the car is nice and what you want don't let the fear of a HB stop you, I just had mine done, cost for total job with new belts, seal, nut, and PB1117ss balancer was about $900

Grand Sport goes thru the OEM tires quicker and is more picky with alignments. It usually isn't excessive camber that kills them (mine is usually -1.5 degrees) but toe in settings are screwed up.

Very happy with my 2011 GS
As mentioned earlier I had the PFADT street alignment done after experiencing premature tire wear. A new set of Pilot Super Sports and the alignment made a dramatic difference. I also have a 3LT and the NPP exhaust. Simply a great car. I haven't yet felt the urge to look at C7's
