I just purchased a 2008 3LT Corvette, beautiful black on black. When I got married in 74, I had a 68 Stingray 427, Cragers, 4 speed, and chrome side pipes, black on black.
My new 2008 has only one big problem! Houston flood car with a non repairable title! When it was delivered, I checked it over and found the seats detached and the dry carpets in the rear. I jumped the dead battery and it roared to life. Amazed, I cleaned it up and went running to the court house for plates. Not so fast she said, that car is junk, but but but there is nothing wrong with it, I said. She said sorry, bye. SO THAT IS MY STORY! I have a great car that I can not license. Any one have a wreck, with a salvage or good title? Let's get together!

Welcome to the forum, Joe. Did you not know the car had a bad title when you bought it?
Anyway, I’m going to move this over to C6 General.

What State do you live in? Could local state laws be preventing you from getting a plate? In the states I've lived in, you can get a license plate for salvage title vehicles, as long as the title shows it is a salvage title and it passes smog. Its value will be severely diminished. But that shouldn't limit your ability to drive it on public roads. However, I have not lived in states with rigorous tech testing. Just basic smog.

Doing a little research:
"Twenty states have adopted this brand / title type [Irreparable / Non-repairable / Junk Title / Scrap Title] to prevent vehicles they deem not worthy to ever be considered road worthy or retitled in their state again. ... ... Irreparable titled vehicles are not eligible for registration, insurance or financing ... ... "
Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia
Additionally, Alaska, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, Washington States have special "Bill of Sale" they provide to these vehicles in lieu of a Title. They are also unavailable for registration, insurance or financing.
Good luck.

I don't know how much your into this car for, or if you want to go the Track car route , but these cars bring a lot of money in selling the parts alone, i just wouldn't sell any of the electronics.

Install a few new parts and then register/license it as a kit car.
Gotta be a loophole. There is in every other law.

You should contact the guy who started the post in the link here if you end up keeping the car.https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...flood-buy.html Definitely has experience with these type of cars. But, he was intentionally purchasing flood cars...if not intentional on your part you should return the vehicle to the seller.

Joe, I don't know what state you are in because you did not fill out your profile, and you have not told us what state you bought it in. Regardless...
Contact the seller and tell them they misrepresented the car when they sold it to you, and you are going to return the car a full refund. If they do not agree to this, tell them you are going to contact your state's Attorney General office and report them for fraud and misrepresentation (assuming they are a business). Whether business or private seller, add that you will sue them for the original cost, plus damages, plus attorney fees.
Most states have laws to protect people like you. You bought the vehicle in good faith (though foolish not to check for a clean title), and the seller was aware it could not be licensed, but failed to disclose this to you.
Don't just let it go as a "lesson learned".

A while back you could clear those pronlems in certain states that were not up to speed with their computer systems but now all of them are the same with help from the insurance company's.In Ga. a salvag title can be rebuilt inspected and the title comes back as rebuilt but non-reparable or parts only are just what they say.
