If you enter presentation is everything, try to keep the car clean, inside and out, tires also clean, no pebbles in tire.
Bring chair and cooler, there are usually either food trucks are club making burgers and franks, BUT most important MEET fellow owners and have good time.

Some shows are club events or multi-club events (usually for a charity), and some are just to attract customers to a sponsoring restaurant or dealership. I haven't seen too many concours-grade cars at these shows, in fact I actually won a trophy once and my car is a daily-driver with zero aftermarket "bling" and I hadn't even had time to detail it.
If you're after fun and camaraderie and don't care whether or not you bring home a trophy, you'll find lots of shows where that's the emphasis.

Some people take these shows seriously! Holy crap, you would think their lives depended on it. It is just a show. They are interesting to attend but nothing to get worked up about. If you can sign your name and have a few $$ you are good to go. Have fun and meet people.

Most car shows in my area are 6 to 8 hours of sitting. That's why I like "Cruise Ins" better then car shows, then you can come and go whenever you want.. Cruise Ins have everything that Car shows have except trophys..Plus , you don't have to hear anyone whining about why they should have won the trophy instead of the other guy.....WW

Bring a comfortable folding chair. An umbrella is also a must if there is no shade to protect you from the sun.

I will gladly donate to the charity but will not tolerate idiocy amongst “car guys”. Having fun, sharing stories, learning things is good. Getting upset about a trophy is just dumb. It’s a hobby, not an occupation.

No application..simply a form stating who you are and what your car is...put your car in the correct catagory....all shows are different. Most shows I go to have catagories for most generation Corvettes, then Mustangs, trucks, hot rods, rat rods, etc. Pay $20-40 entry fee, have fun.
1 Best of Show
2 2nd Place
9 1st Place...all for the same car.

Some shows have a "do not judge" category. You can participate but aren't in the competition for a trophy. There are also categories for hood-up or hood-down, if you don't feel like cleaning the engine compartment.

I'm coming up on 1 yr of C6 ownership this July. I entered one car show in my home town last year and thoroughly enjoyed the event, and learned a lot. Yes, bring a cooler & drinks, chairs and possibly an umbrella. Also, register early and usually save $10 on the entry/registration fee. I plan to attend/enter at least two shows this coming summer.
For the Corvette there were two classes, stock & custom for each version of the Corvette. What's the difference? If you make 3 or more changes/modifications to your car, it is technically considered a custom. Some entrants overlook their 3+ mods and sign up in the stock class anyway, which I would lean towards doing. I'll have more than 3 mods, with custom wheels, tires, steering wheel & shifter being the most obvious ones. My question is, should I be put in the same class as the guys with the custom paint, $10K stereo, custom supercharged modded engine, custom everything and sponsored taboot! I personally have a little trouble being in that class! But, it's about the fun and comradery, right!

The Capital City Corvette Classic has two classes for each generation, coupe and convertible. Of course there is only one class for C-1's. Then we have Best of Show and the Mayor's Trophy. The Mayor's Trophy is pretty neat because the last two mayor's have been Corvette owners so they have an idea what they are looking for when they make their pick. The rest of the judging is participant judging and you can not vote for a car in your own class. We mark out the ballot for your class when you register. This is the only show I do each year and only then because our club (Heart of Missouri Corvette Club) assists with putting on the show. The best part of the show is the Friday afternoon cruise through the rolling Missouri hills with some good twisty roads. It is usually about 80 miles long.
