Best/ Cheapest way to make base C6 loud
Hey everyone I have a 2006 Base C6 corvette ls2 engine, as of now I have Borla stinger (old style) axle-back exhaust but I want it louder.
I also live in California and dont want to deal with SMOG so I cant really do headers without causing a huge pain.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

I have the Billy Boat PRTs and really like the sound. Pretty mellow when cruising, but a real throaty sound when you get into it. They have a couple of models louder yet if you like. What I like about the BB over the Corsa, etc., is is more of an American Muscle sound.

Get a electric cut out installed and wired in. Best of both worlds. I would say just got Z06 exhaust with mild to wild switch; but i doubt you'll want the added quite on mild mode.

Cheap option would be to pick up another base exhaust on Craigslist and have straight pipe welded in place of the mufflers. This way you can revert back to your current setup if it's too obnoxious.

Going back to my high school days......if the muffler didn't sound loud enough and you wanted more, you might take this route! AWL...right!
Sorry, just couldn't help myself!

Before you do anything press the auto EQ buttons a few times on the radio (second button bottom from the right on the radio), and see if that help the problem by pulling the radio out of the manual EQ settings it may be set into instead.
If you find a setting you like, but want to tweak it a touch more, then you you can use the manual EQ settings isntead.
Hence most of time someone tells me that the radio sound like junk, they have have not adjusted the EQ settings to your liking isntead.

Cheapest? I spent under $14 for a hole saw bit plus baggie of metal plugs (Home Depot). Followed a forum discussion for drilling a 3/4" hole in each muffler. The hole goes thru the muffler can and then thru both sides of an internal pipe. Then you plug the "can" hole by tapping-in the metal plugs. Looks OEM. Sounds better than OEM. No drone....

There were multiple discussions - - "C6 Muffler Mod" search is your friend... unfortunately some of "the photobucket" pics don't show up anymore...
Here is one link that may help: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1571334908
Some people drill and patch a larger outer hole, but I just used the same 3/4" Hole Saw bit (need longest one you can find? 3+"). I used that same saw from outside thru inside and hammered in a 3/4" hole plug to seal the outside hole.... I got it all at Home Depot.
I hit a socket pressed up to the plug flange to avoid distorting it too much... Also, I only drilled thru the first side of the inner pipe, but if I had to do again I would go deeper and drill thru the far side of the inner pipe..... That would give you a louder sound.
