Default Navagation

Anybody have trouble adding a address in there nav. system? When I try to enter a street address after putting in about 6 letters it won't accept anymore.
I know the system leaves a lot to be desired.
The disc was new 2 years ago when I bought the car. It's and '08.

Yes I have but have had the same problem with the Tom Tom in my daily driver. I recently tried to enter a Vancouver street address and it wouldn't accept it. Ironically that address and street would have been there since the turn of the last century yet no go.

When I entered the postal code instead it popped right up but showed it as Kitsilano BC which is dumb because it is part of the city of Vancouver just like the Bronx is part of New York.

I am not a nav expert but wondered if there were streets avail for choice as you were adding the letters in? Maybe the street you are looking for is not in the database. I have a 2008 as well and I believe v10 from like 2016 was the last version we are going to be able to get. The street I live on does not exists in db. If you have version 10 then I believe this is only one disks. Earlier versions had 2. I am sure some other NAV experts will chime in. Since your profile says Florida, I assume that is on the disks (east if you have 2).

Not an expert on these things, but I do know that sometimes the nav will malfunction if it doesn't have a good, strong signal. Could be it was blocked by a building. Try changing location and try again.

What address are you searching?
I have an aftermarket NAV, but it and the OEM in my Jeep require street name separate from address (digits), could that be the issue?

I'll try it in one of mine if you give the address you're looking for.

Only usable letters for streets that are on the disc are available to select. If the street name you are trying to type in is not on the disc it's letters will not be available on the screen. From the manual...

"To make your name selections easier, the system will only allow you to select a character which can
follow the last one entered. For example, if you enter Z, you would not be allowed to follow it with T.
The system will highlight the available characters and darken the unavailable characters.
If you are unsuccessful when inputting a name, it may need to be selected differently. It is also
possible that the map DVD database may not contain that information or the correct search area has
not been selected."

I went to this destination a year ago with no trouble.
I don't use it that much so I don't know when the issue originated.
I used my Garmin with no problem.

Has happened to me...I put in the City or Village and then the street and it blocks up after a few letters. Turns out the street might not be in the particular village I entered. I was trying to find a street in (I thought) East Patchogue, it wouldn't allow it. I eventually entered Patchogue and the street popped right up. Make sure you've entered the correct info...

I have a garmin from my last vette. I don't see no real good place to put it. I don't want to buy a new disc if something else is wrong with it. They are not cheap!

There are quite a few tutorials on the Corvette Museum website and Redlion too. I've watched/read all those as well as the manual and find it frustrating as hell. I once had an appointment at a new doctors office and it WOULD NOT accept the name of the street yet it would display it when I drove down it so I know it was in the database.

There is a new data disc but I doubt that's your problem.

It truly is a POS so learn to live with it or replace it, the choice is yours.
