Now...Now.....Theres lots of "Dumb Arguments" in this forum. Which oil is best.....which wax is best.....what color is best......M-6 or A-6......which fuel is best......GS or BASE......and lets not forget to mention the infamous....."Which tire is best". And this list just barely scrapes the surface......

I don't think they are a fad. Chrome wheels look great for the first few miles but they require constantly cleaning. Black or comp grey wheels look great for a long time. I'm putting some black wheels on my C6 next year or so.

f
SMH. The same dirt on chrome wheels gets on black wheels or comp grey wheels (which is what I have). How great they look depends on the person taking care of them. If you do your homework and take care of your wheels properly it doesn't matter what kind of wheels you have. You have to work on them no matter what. Black wheels don't magically repel dirt or brake dust and dirt.

They came like this from the factory almost 50 years ago. And I just bought a set of C6 Z06 style wheels for my C5 Z06-in Black.

I personally prefer the standard silver/satin finish on the wheels, but it's all so subjective and everyone has their own opinion. The best part is nobody's wrong!
I agree. I prefer the gray with polished faces from the 2012.

I really have mixed feelings. I don't dislike black wheels. I put gun metal wheels on 2nd car BMW 325i and it looks good. But I love the bling of chrome. Maybe I need an extra set of wheels to truly see the difference. Good excuse right?

Are chrome/polished wheels outdated ? Is it worthwhile to get new wheels, or just have the OEM painted or powdercoated ?......Any feedback out there........

Black wheels look great with many different color vehicles. I don't think they are going anywhere any time soon. If you're worried about getting in on the back end of the trend don't worry. Just do what you like. It's your car. Haters gonna hate regardless.

My chrome wheels always have a shine even when dirty..Blacks do not.I only wax my about every 2 months then just rinse them off once a week.

The chrome wheels on my Corvette keep their shine and stay cleaner then the black wheels on my Camaro. One thing I've noticed and is a contributing factor is that, although I drive both about the same, I get very little to no brake dust on the chrome wheels; however the same can't be said for the black ones on the Camaro.

As far as wheels go, it all comes down to the make of vehicle, the color of said vehicle and any other aesthetics (stripes, lowered, blacked out lights, etc.) as to which wheel (black, chrome or other) looks good to me.
