Rainy day exhaust mod...
It was a rainy day here in Georgia today and figured it would be a good day to spend in the shop doing the exhaust mod that others did to their base exhaust.
Started off by using a 1-3/8" diamond hole saw to make the hole in the outer shell of the muffler.
Next, I used a long 1/4" twist drill to go through both side of the internal pipe that exits to the tips.
Then put a 3/4" dia. step drill on an extension and drilled through both sides of the internal pipe.
Followed up with a small flapper wheel on an extension shaft chucked up on a die grinder to remove the burrs on the holes.
Using a 1" electrical box plug and some red high temp silicone, inserted the plug and allowed a full day for the silicone to cure.
Finished it off with some buytl sound deadening mat and final sprayed with matte high temp paint to hide the opening.
This mod did increase the idle tone a bit, without noticeably increasing the higher RPM driving sound level, and did not introduce any drone at speed.
Easy mod, modest results, good excuse to spend time in the shop drinking a cold one with Barrett-Jackson auction in the background.

It's good to find something productive to do on a rainy day.
