Default How do you use your Corvette - and why?

Ok, another recent thread seemed to generate a lot of negativity based on the question of why all Corvette owners don't drive their cars the same way (asked in a much different way).

But here is a question: How do you use your Corvette - and why?
Let's try to keep the anger and judgements out.

I'll go first. I use mine mostly as a weekend driver and cruiser. I like to do some projects on it for fun and also enjoy the occasional car show. I do like cleaning and polishing it (not exactly sure why, but it is part of my "car hobby")
Why? I am not retired, so I still am busy during the week with work and family obligations. I don't drive it daily to work because the traffic in Northern Virginia (DC area) is some of the worst in the country. I still enjoy it as a toy and will someday have more time to take longer cruises.
For now, weekend driving outside of the congestion is still fun!

After being given a year to live I went out and bought mine the same day. Winter here is very long, but I have managed to drive it at least once a week. I enjoy washing, waxing and just looking at it. It makes me feel good. I think that’s what this ownership thing is and this forum as well. The whole experience makes us feel good. That is how and why I use my corvette.

I use mine as a daily driver, about 18k miles a year.

Why? Because when I walk out to the garage I can't bring myself to drive a different car when I have the Vette sitting there. I actually get enjoyment out of every single commute... sitting in rush hour isn't even a bother when I'm in the Vette.

Daily driver. Why? Because if I wanted a Garage Queen, I'd just divorce the wife and find me a younger woman. It's a toss up which would provide the more spirited ride...

I use mine mainly for taking nice short cruises to see local area sites, long road trips, nights out on the town & the occasional car show. I'm retired, but what would be considered my DD is my 2013 Camaro SS As to why I use my vehicles the way I do, because I own them & I can use them any way I chose.

Weekend driver. I drive way too much for work the wear and tear isn't worth it. Plus having it as a pleasure car means I can take it apart and not be rushed to put it back together.

Usually I make turns with the steering wheel, and use the pedals to set my speed

I'm retired, but each of my last 5 Vettes was my daily driver. 3 of them were driven 150 miles every weekend to see my mother. Never had occasion to take any of them on long trips, just never cared to go.

On average, I just leave the house 4 or 5 days out of the 7 per week. When I do, I take my daily driver, which is no longer a Corvette.

Its an expensive toy/hobby that will one day turn into my DD. I'm loving every minute of it.

Daily drive it 12k miles a year. I have snow tires for the winter months...I get tons of thumbs up for driving it everyday.

I bought it new as my third new corvette. This one has been so utterly reliable and even with the z51 and manual this vehicle makes a great daily driver.

120k miles on this ls3 and it's just as powerful as it was the day I drove it off the lot at kerbeck.

This car is so reliable and looks mint so much so I can't even bring myself to sell it...

Great car!

For those that prefer as a weekend toy I can respect that as well.

To each there own...

I'm in the same boat. I've got a '99 ford p/u ( sorry gm guy's. a purchase of necessity at the time ). while I have driven the corvette occasionally for, a weeks worth of commuting ( 6spd ), I much prefer the weekend romps. still, when I do the drive the p/u ( dog of a V6 ), I'm always wishing it was the 'vette!

I easily put 30k /40k miles on my company car each year. The company pays for everything. All kinds of weather and all kinds of traffic. It's not fun or enjoyable.

My Vette and Motorcycle are my weekend fare weather rides. Rides that I enjoy and find relaxing. I also enter several shows a year so my Vette and Motorcycle are clean and modded. I have no desire to put 30k miles a year on either. It would suck the joy out of taking them out on the weekends for me.

Daily driver, Cars & Coffee, non-judging car shows (because I don't think of it as a show car). I, too, enjoy the polishing and cleaning.

I use my Corvette as a ticket to enter the Corvette Forum and spew non-sense for hours on end. It does not get driven.

I've had my 2011 GS for 2 years now and was using as a daily driver from April to beginning of November. Yes, it's been thru many rain storms. That will change this year as my work parking situation has worsened. People are dipshits and don't know how to park. We have here what they call high capacity parking.

I will switch to occasional work use and weekend driver.
