Default Best way to launch 2012 automatic grand sport

Besides the obvious of flooring the gas pedal, is there a better way to launch a 2012 grand sport with the automatic transmission?

It's only a slight advantage, but brake torque to 1000-1200 RPM first. It avoids the shock that TM momentarily reduces power. Unless you're at the track, you'll never recognize the difference.
BTW, if you spin, immediately abort.

Thought I might be missing something. Guess not. I can't help but wonder why only the manual got a launch mode.

Tune it and get rid of the TMS.

Doesn't setting it to "Competition" mode take care of that?

I'm assuming the OP is new to this, so eliminating the nannies is not a safe choice. I have about 500 passes and still only turn off TC.

Eliminating active handling is a bad idea. That's what keeps you from slamming into the wall.

OK, don't laugh, I want advice. Thinking of doing a 1/2-mile drag event, but I've never even been to a drag race. '13 Grand Sport that I track once a year. I'd appreciate some advice what to do. Do Ikeep normal traction control on? I don't have the dial setting option, just a button on the console that has 3 settings.

Put the transmission selector in "S"

Turn off the Traction Control ..... (1 push of the button)

No brake torquing the car (leave while at idle)

Full throttle on the tree's last yellow light

Hope for good traction

.

Thanks! I thought I'd do just that and see how things turn out. I like the vette and want to drive it home in one piece.

Too late for that. I'm already halfway through a plate of baked ziti.

Isn't "competition" mode turning OFF TC, but still leaving ON the active handling?

Thanks, Turbo, appreciate the detail explanation. I have the button and never understood, exactly, the different modes. I think the traction control engaged a few times when tracking (it probably saved me lol). And I didn't know about #4 (hold for 5 sec's) at all.
