I had my fourth hernia surgery Thursday, spanning 32 years. They had to do it "from the front," so needed a big incision. I had both sides fixed in 2013 via scope, and incisions were minimal.
So I'm thinking: "Damn, gonna be in the 80s this weekend and I won't be able to get in or out of the Vette." Well they've got better ways of doing this surgery than they did in '86, when I had it done the first time. For one thing, they use some kind of cement to hold the incision together, no stitches and no bandages. The surgeon said I can do whatever I feel like doing, no lifting restrictions, "You will not break open the incision."
So 24 hours after surgery, I got in and out of the Vette (yesterday) no problem, barely hurt at all. Made a couple stops, went out again today. Life is good, and it doesn't feel like my guts are hanging out anymore.
FWIW: I can't remember how many nurses I saw Thursday, but none of them were even halfway decent looking. Pretty depressing. And some burly guy, a nurse, stuck the IV needle in my hand and hooked up the IV. As soon as he started talking I knew he was gay. And a few minutes later, during conversation, it was confirmed. Oh well, at least HE didn't shave me, a female nurse (as far as I could tell, but one never knows nowadays) had the honor.

Thanks Mrs. Ow. Attachment 48331950
EDIT: Are you getting much rain there? An old buddy of mine retired in 2005, and they moved into a new house in New Bern, NC, which took a mostly direct hit. They left Wednesday for their daughter's place inland, although they are getting massive flooding there too. But at least there's no storm surge. I'm hoping his house isn't destroyed.

I was in SC last week and left early Tuesday to avoid the mass exodus. Mr.owc6 is still there.

Ah, the crisp days of fall! Was bright, sunny, and in the upper 60s today, just barely top-off weather. Didn't see any other Vettes all day.
I went to watering hole #2 in Naples, drank beer, ate clams, watched football, then went down the street to the farmer's market and got two gallons of fresh, raw, concord grape juice. It's only available for a few weeks in the fall so I gotta get it while I can.
Tastes just like liquid grapes:

All my grapes are concords,
They mostly feed the deer. Usually, the grapes ripen and are stripped and eaten in one night.

Maybe Mrs. Ow should not leave the fob outside near the car. Attachment 48332111

It was in reference to a deer strike that wiped out the right side.

An 83 year-old buddy of mine just bought a Caddy SUV, 4 cylinder. He is not, and never has been, a gearhead. He's 6'4" and the Caddy was the only thing he was comfortable in besides a Mercedes. He was talking the new car up, and was surprised how advanced my 12 year-old Vette is when I told him all the "stuff" that was in it.
So after lunch we're checking each other's rides out and he was jerking my chain about how small my C6 is. So I asked: "Wanna race?" No reply. Then he asked me about how the top comes off. I explained it to him, then he commented on what a nice color the car was. Yeah I know, that's what everybody says.
So, he still didn't want to race.

Haha, pretty sure you're older than I am.
Yeah? Interesting. I didn't know how advanced these cars were until actually owning one and listening to other people talk about their newer cars, and realizing that mine was better.
