Battery trivia:

I bought a new battery in July 2014 from a local indy parts store. It is a Deka, made by EastPenn Manufacturing. It is a 600 CCA and was about $100-110(?).

I also installed, at some point, a magnetic connector for the battery maintainer. This is the greatest invention since sliced bread, intermittent wipers, and snooze alarms. And no, they are not paying me to promote their product.

You don't have to pop the hood, you don't have to crack the window, you don't have to fish any wires around, you simply get out of the car and snap the magnetic connector to its mate which is mounted on the grill with double-sided tape. That's it: snap the connector on, walk away, your maintainer is doing its thing.

Because of its ease of use, you will find that you will always hook it up. With the more PITA connections, a lot of times you will just say "Screw it, it will be fine." And sure, it will be fine, but keeping the batt always topped off will increase its life. If my car is home, and I'm not washing it, it is hooked up.

And you "Doubting Thomases" -- after telling me how great your cig lighter hookup is -- if you buy one of these you will be eating your words.

So today I did a load test on my four year-old battery and it was well into the green area, nearly as good as new. And it is exposed to ambient unheated barn temps for 4-5 months during the winter when the car isn't driven.

BRUZE !!!....now you know these young techno wizards of today ain't gonna understand your simple explanation cause it's just to damn simple !!! You gots to throw in some big ol words and calculations to get the point across. Like what are the force of the magnets involved. At what exact co-ordnents (sp) are said pieces placed.....etc....etc. Does sound like a good idea though.

add some charts and graphics too so tracking its progress and degradation factors can be put up on a 90inch screen and discussed to no end reconvening later in the day to discuss why the charts were in portrait not landscape.

That little item is the useful mod I have. Can't imagine wires to the cig lighter or keeping my hood cracked open.

If I could afford those three blonds, they would be my favorite, but for now, it's the magnetic tender connector.

Get back to us after you drive through bug country, forget to clean the contacts before you hook it up since it does not have a snap down cover face to protect is as your driving with it on the front of the car, and end up with a dead battery after all.

As for the Rosenberger power system M2 S 101-3XX and M2 K 201-1AE connectors, if you check around, can get them for about half the price you site listed isntead.

As for the system, really nothing new, and is the same connectors that come on the Mercedes/Maybachs, and in which Cteck has end connectors that fit on their tenders as well.

The only real bug problems we have around here is mayflies for a week or two, and they can be a literal cloud. I've never driven the Vette through one, but I did with my motorcycle in an earlier life. They were plastered all over the front, up my sleeves, inside my helmet, a real mess.

As for the connector: I'm old, lazy, and even though I have a complete machine shop in my backyard, I never make anything that I can buy somewhere off the shelf. And it gets worse the older I get.

Oh well, thanks for the tips anyway.

I fired her up today, first time since November 9 when I put her to bed. Went shopping, ran great, no issues. It took me several tries to re-learn the DIC and radio controls, lol.

There were a couple of young guys in the Walmart's parking lot unloading a truck, and they were asking me all kinds of questions about it; they didn't believe it is 11 years old.

I put the red floormats in and will post pix sometime. It was so bright and sunny here today the pix would not have turned out well so I didn't even try.

I have a base model, and as of this afternoon the battery is under the hood. I will check in the morning and see if it has moved to the trunk. They can be pretty sneaky.
