We were on a road trip to Utah in 2015 when a couple of miles out of Torrey, Utah(really in the middle of nowhere)when David, in his 1998 C5 6 speed(with 25,000 miles), had the clutch pedal stick to the floor. We had spent the night in Torrey and there was a convenience store/gas station next to the motel, so I drove back to the store, and luckily they had one bottle of DOT 3 brake fluid on the shelf.

Grabbed a large handful of paper towels at the windshield washer thingy by the gas pumps and drove back to where the remainder of our group was along the side of the highway.

Twisted a paper towel up and used it to suck the dirty(black), then poured in fresh fluid. Put the cap back on and grabbed the clutch pedal and was able to pull it off the floor and then pumped it 15 times. Kept repeating that until the bottle of fluid was empty. Continued on with our road trip(another 2,000+ miles) with no more clutch pedal sticking to the floor of David's M6. When we got back to Springfield(our home), I told David to do a repeat of the procedure(but using the syringe) using a fresh bottle of Prestone DOT 4 brake fluid.

I've been using the Ranger method of changing the clutch fluid for the past 9 years and 53,000 miles(twice annually) on my 09 Z06 and have never had the clutch pedal stick to the floor.

Not to worry. After use, I clean it thoroughly with brake cleaner.
Be very careful use a kitchen turkey baster as they normally use a cheap styrene plastic that is not compatible with petroleum.

Use the syringe that is made for mixing 2 cycle oils together as it won't crumble in your hand and spill brake fluid all over the place(I speak from experience).

Hey Joe, That post was my feeble attempt at humor.

My wife doesn't like the car and she would most likely have me sleeping in it if she discovered I had used one of her prized kitchen utensils.

1. Use the syringe made for mixing 2 cycle oil. It’s made for hydrocarbon.

2. Rather than pumping 30 to 40 times and needlessly adding wear to the components , just empty the reservoir with the syringe once. And then repeat every other time you drive it until it all clears up.

Oops. I just replaced it with Dot3. Haven't driven it yet and I will redo with the bottle of prestone Dot4 that I should have used in the first place. Old habit from my c5 I suppose. I should be alright after this right? Right?

I did about 3 cycles with the dot3. I will use the entire bottle of dot4 so hopefully that will get most of the dot3 out.

I would replace a bowl everytime you drive for awhile.

Does seem that with 36,000+ posts there's some OCD going on.

Probably a good idea. Lost count but I used a whole bottle of the dot4.

The adults are talking here noob we would rather just think you're a fool rather than you speak and remove all doubt.

By the way noob if that's all you have to contribute then you might want to go upstairs and ask your mom how to behave amongst other people.
