I have owned 10 C6s. Yeah, I change them quite often.
Four have been MN6 and five were the A6. One was the A4.
I was out of the Corvette for the last year due to the wife's medical problems.
I am back looking for a runabout Vette. Nothing fancy that will be parked in the driveway for the rest of the time I own it.
I am torn between the A/T and the Manual. Then I read all the horror stories about clutch master cylinder failures, Slave cylinders failing, vibrations when engaging the clutch and a $2,000 cost to R&R a clutch.
I am too old to have these concerns when I drive my cars. So, it looks like the A/T will win the day on my next Vette. Of course, the first order of business will to be to R&R the shifter cable

The "driving in traffic....Esp. traffic JAMS" argument is easy to understand. It's a royal PITA when sitting in a long line of traffic and having to constantly reach for the shifter and then reach for the "other" left pedal. Manuals are fun....the first car I ever drove over 50 years ago was a manual and have owned many since. But if I could only own one vehicle then it's gonna be an auto mainly for the reasons just stated about driving in stop and go traffic. And yes....the base is faster.....

Both vettes I've owned were manual 6 speeds. Never wanted an auto - that's my daily drivers thru the years. To me Corvettes are special and are made to be fun and I have more of a driver's experience with a manual. Don't care if the manuals are faster - you aren't doing anything. Manuals are not silly and can't believe a vendor on this forum would say so. When the time comes and manuals are gone in vettes and all sports cars that will be a sad day.

Have owned Corvettes with auto trans and manual trans. I favor the auto when in heavy traffic or stop and go city driving no question. Auto is also good when I want to enjoy a Starbucks coffee while on the road. All that said IMO shifting gears gives you a greater feel for control and actually driving the Corvette. You can make an argument for both depending on driving preferences.

Had an 08 pace car M6 and liked it. Wife could not drive it good and bad!! came across a 12 GS auto and made the trade! The M6 was a PITA to drive in DFW traffic!! Love the A6 GS and so does the wife!!

When I bought my 07' new, I agreed with my wife, that, we would both share the driving and "ownership" of it. She would drive it during the week to work and I would drive it any other time. She couldn't drive a stick and I have a bad left knee. So, it all worked out just fine for us. As it turned out, I wound up with complete ownership since some ******* at her work started to key some cars and the Vette was a prime objective. I never did get the SOB that did it. However, through all of this, I have come to really enjoy driving it, especially the paddle shift. I don't track it or race it. I just cruise in it and it's absolutely delightfull. Yeah, I'm an old guy and it suits me for what I want it to. I've had 4 other Vettes, all stick, and they all did for me what they were suppose to do.... make me happy.

405 is mostly OC and is a cake walk compared to most parts of the 10, 110, 101 and the 5. I totally get it though, I love driving my M6 GS downtown cause I can fit in parking garages where my truck can't. But an hour or two to get home in jammed traffic blows so I usually take my truck which is auto, just has a 7'+ clearance so parking is a bitch.

My car is a M6 but I have nothing against the autos. I’ve been caught in stop and go traffic for whatever reason and at that time wished mine was an auto. But mine is not my DD so when I’m driving it it’s mostly on a clear country 2 lane and then I’m so glad I have the manual. And I’m driving hard about 97% of the time.
