Default Just swapped trunk lights to LED’s, question.

This is weird. Pop the trunk and the lights come on, but dimly. Open the car door and they come on to full brightness?

Need to solder a resistor(s) up line line. Most will have them reistors already on the boards, while on others, you need to cut the lead trace and solder in the resistor instead. Hence the leds have lower threasholds before they will start to light up than the standard bulb, and you get power bead through to lowly lighten them up even when the circuit is not fully energized. With the resistors in line to bring the light up point back up that of a standard bulb before it begins to glow the filament, the LEDs will not glow until they see full power from the circuit.

No resistors on these leds, so they are going to lightly glow even where circuit is not fully energized.

Turn the bulb 180 degrees. Mine did the same thing on one side, flipped the bulb and all is well.

The joys of LED's. First install they didn't come on at all. After I flipped them they came on full brightness. It wasn't till a couple days later I noticed the reduced brightness till I opened the car door.

Update: After reading, reading and a little searching here's what I found.

With the car locked, popping the trunk sends limited power to the trunk lights, hence the dimness.

Unlocking the car the popping the trunk and the lights come on as they should.

I read that in another post and my 06 vert has reacted in the exact same way...

mine did the same thing....i popped the trunk the other night while out doing car stuff to check n20 pressure and they were dim....hit the unlock button WITH the trunk being open and they went to full brightness....i dont care about it. only reason i changed them was the color but others can get the resistors soldered in and make then do as supposed to. i just havent bothered LOL
