It sounds as though having runflats would be a good solution to having to carry all that equipment in your vehicle.

Remember though, you can typically only drive 50 miles on run flats and no more than 50mph in most cases.
And one other thing...you can't repair a run flat in certain situations. They have to be replaced.

I'm not advocating one or the other I just want to see how people go about not having RF's.

I don't have run flats on my C6 and it's not a worry. I put more miles on my Harley in a year than many do on their Corvettes and in 40 years I have had 3 flats. None of my other cars have ever had run flats and I can only recall 4 flats on them in my entire life.
I have driven a C6 with run flats and compared to mine, the run flats felt sluggish and slow responding.
AAA will transport my car 200 miles if necessary and pay for the repair.
Flat tires are nothing I worry about.

Burning Brakes
nice jack for carrying in the vette, bit expensive though. came across this while researching alternatives to having run-flats, ending up sticking with run flats.

Carmax had put a full set of new tires on mine before I bought it, non-runflats. Idk what I'll replace them with when they need it, but given the mileage I put on, that decision won't be for a while. I never take the car so far I couldn't get AAA, so I'm really not worried. One time I had a flat on my 911, with non-run-flats and the compressior+goop, and it was useless as the tire bead had unseated and the wimpy compressor didn't have have enough oomph to pop it back in. Flat was due to a shot valve stem, so the goop or a plug kit wouldn't have helped anyway. So it's cellphone and AAA.

I had a Goodyear Run Flats on my C5 -- they patched a nail hole - they being a Goodyear Tire Center.

A couple things here. I use the plug kit philosophy also, but I don't carry a jack, or a torque wrench. Why can't you just let the car roll forward or backwards to locate nail--screw--or whatever caused leak ? And for goodness sakes, why would one worry about applying the exact torque needed to lug nuts under a road hazard condition? If you feel the need to remove the wheel then Just tighten the nuts nice and snug then worry about the proper torque when the time is more convenient?........

Thanks for the info. I never used them, but I know some other guys that had trouble getting their flats fixed and / or tires changed after they'd used fix-a-flat. Supposedly, the water base corroded the rims, and the inside of the tire was very messy, needing cleaning before a tire patch could be installed. But that was just what I was told.

You may not need the jack (especially for a front tire), but it's not all that hard to jack the car and remove the wheel. It's better than laying under the car on the side of the road while trying to locate and pull the nail, ream the hole and insert the plug.

The Slime Tire Repair Kits with a compressor are only $40.00 and appear to work quickly and do the job. Spending the extra money on run flats makes no sense to me. I just picked up one of the kits today as we get ready for our road trip.
