My muffler has been pretty quiet. Out of the blue it’s loud.

If you have a stock system either the solenoid valves at the back are stuck open or the fuse for it is blown. Fuse could be blown due to seized solenoid valve. Fuse is located under the passenger side footwell. Possible cat could be gone also.

With the NPP option, a loss of vacuum anywhere in the system will cause the muffler valves to open and possibly cause the fuel mixture to run lean.
The sound change could also happen if an over-the-axle pipe slipped out of the X-pipe with or without the NPP option.
The mileage has no bearing on the issue.

The fuse you mentioned is blown. Any idea as to why this would happen?

OK, let's start over.
The OP has a GS. It most likely has NPP. Are we all on the same page so far???
If all of a sudden it's stuck on "loud" then it could only be from a few things. A blown fuse is likely, or a stuck butterfly valve (but the likelihood of both sticking at the same time is slim).
Either way, he should count his blessings as now he has a car that sounds like it should.

Comon man....if you want to give a smartass reply, you can do better than War and Peace. Next time say "it's not like reading A la recherche du temps perdu"
Literary lesson of the day:
A la recherche du temps perdu by Marcel Proust contains an estimated 9,609,000 characters (each letter counts as one character. Spaces are also counted, as one character each).
Guinness record longest book... 13-volume masterpiece first published in 1913.
