Default C6 problem?

Guys I have not been on this C6 site since I got my 15. I did a quick look around and did not see what INFO I needed.

A know it all person I know tells me that have been lots of problems in C6s, due to the car starting by its self. Like in a garage or parked somewhere. Now I have never heard anything like that and to be honest doubt it, but heck with electronics anything is possible.

Tell me this person is full of chit and I will have some good ammo to go after him with. He is sort of a Cliff Claven want to be.

THANKS-

I seem to remember a thread a few (?) months ago wherein an owner was saying his car started by itself. I don't remember the particulars, or a conclusion.

There must be a key fob inside the car for the engine to start. Tell this to your know-it-all friend and see what he says. I'm guessing he'll try to change the subject.

I can see something like this maybe effecting a car that has a 'Remote Start' function, but the C6 certainly don't have the Remote Start ability.

Nope ... The C6 ain't going to magically start by itself.

Move on folks ... Nothing to see here

My car started up one day all by itself. Went down the road, filled up with gas and brought me a case of beer. Most amazing thing I have ever seen.

I had 5 different C6s and none of them ever started by them self.

Yup, first & only report of such behavior IIRC too.
99% are rumors & flat out silly, other 1% flat out bullshit.

Of all the potential problems that can happen across the broad range of Corvettes, ghost starting by itself is probably the lowest on the list of potential.

I mean, he has a wealth of reasons to crap on a Corvette. He could have used any of:
  • Locks people in the car (dead fob battery)
  • Engines blow up (harmonic balancer)
  • Gas Cap Falls Off (gas cap light)
  • Fails On Track (service active handling soon warning)
Hmmm ... i'm sure there's lots of other joke reasons you can complain about the Corvette ...

Full of it. Since he's a know-it-all, put him on the spot and ask him to provide his source for this information (show, not tell).

That's amazing! You might not believe this but ALL of my cars did this. I thought it was just me. So I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.

I rarely disagree with you Eric, but in this case you're wrong.

He can't be full of **** because his head is so far up his *** there's no more room.

Maybe this is the thread - https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...by-itself.html

Allegedly happened to a C4, though.

Wait till it starts driving itself. That's when I would be concerned!
