I gotta ask again.....
Sorry. I know this has been asked umpteen times but I can't find a thread on it.
It's been over two years - maybe three or four since I've changed the cabin air filter. I've checked it every year and it looks always good (since I only drive it a few hundred miles a year). But I thought I'd change it this year.
When I pulled the old one out - I noticed the arrows on the filter were pointed up. It is a Wix and it has arrows on the side of the filter. Should the arrows be pointed up or down? I had the old one with the arrows pointed up. I couldn't remember if that is right or not.
So should the arrows on the filter be pointing up or down?
Thanks.

All depends, is the arrow marked direction or air flow? If up direction then up, but if airflow, then should be pointing down.
As for waiting every few years to replace the filter, just depends on the filters you use. If your using the ones with charcoal, or the Fram with packing soda, then really should be replaced yearly instead. It not due to the filter getting filthy over all, but the life of the charcoal/baking soda able to do it job for only so long of a life instead. Plus, gives you chance to spray a can of lysol through the slot with the fan on high sucking air through the A/C coil, to kill any mold before it has to chance to start building up.
The spring waterfall is a good one, since it not over the top with sent.
If the mold has had a time to build up and every time you turn on the A/c you can smell the mold, isntead of yearly bought's of lysol to keep it at bay, then will need something more stronger than lysol instead.

I called WIX a little bit ago. They told me that the arrows are supposed to point in the direction of the air flow. Which is the OPPOSITE side that the dirt is on.
Since the dirt is on the top of the filter, the air flow direction would be DOWN. So I put mine with the arrows pointing down.
Thanks for all of the help, guys. I really appreciate it.

Yup ... Just like the replaceable flat filters for your AC air inlet vents in your house .... Airflow is always in the direction of the arrow on the filter.
