My budget is 30k-ish. There’s a nice one owner 2007 6mt vert red on tan (my fav color combo) with only 16k miles at a Chevy dealer in West Virginia. Toying with the idea of having an Indy mechanic check it out for me and having it shipped.

Most of these dealers sell their used cars as-is. How far are you from this dealer? I'd prefer seeing and driving the car myself. I don't particularly trust these companies that have mechanics for hire. I've heard to many horror stories. It's also harder to negotiate, not being there. I'd have the dealer e-mail you a gmvis report, and pay for a current Carfax report yourself, not from the dealer. Also, try to find reviews online for this dealer.

You can tell that I'm not very trusting of car dealers.

I like Red cars the best! With only 16K miles, and costing $30K+ it should look pristine, with all body panels having matching original paint! Finally, when you get the Carfax, see where it was delivered new, and spent most of it's life. If it came from the north east, I'd have the dealer take pictures of the undercarriage.

I was going to do the same thing, buy a car from a Chevy dealer in upstate NY and have it shipped to Florida. It was a low mileage car, Victory red/tan. His online pictures looked really good, but for my own peace of mind, asked him to put the car up on the lift and take pictures. He gave me a hard time, telling me the car was mint, but sent them anyway. It looked like it was used as a snow plow.


I must be pretty lame! I totally forgot that you live in NY! It might be a little much to drive down to West Virginia to see the car!

I totally understand. I almost bought a late-year C6 "narrow body" convertible. But I also looked at the Grand Sports. The cost increase from a Grand Sport convertible to a 427 Convertible was low enough that I went with the 427. You really can't go wrong with any C6 in my book. I enjoyed the automatic, but I like the manual even more.

LOL I've used this logic in the past with my wife. I've applied it to many things over the years that I had to have! Cars, UHD TVs, etc. I had to sell my wife on upgrading(but for a little bit more you can get this) but I was really selling myself!


I could have bought the 427 if I wanted to, but I don't track the car. This time, my stepping stone logic lost. When I sat in the 2 cars, and drove them, they were pretty much alike to me! Besides, I'm a minority here, not a big fan of the wide body on the C6.

All flavors of the C6 are just some of the most beautiful cars Chevy ever made! Right up there with the C2 Roadster, which I had the pleasure to own and drive new!

Yes it’s a bit of a haul. I have the cars service history and carfax. It was sold and serviced at another dealer nearby the selling dealer in West Virginia where it was registered and renewed yearly. I called the original dealer and they pulled the service history. Not much beyond oil changes. They are asking 29k.

I have a 2010 that is from the much maligned "north east " & I guarantee you that the underside is as clean as yours or any Florida car...they are not all used as "snow plows"

I bought my '07 four years ago from the dealer who sold it new, in nearby Rochester. It had two previous owners and neither one drove it during the winter.

I cannot recall what decade it might have been when I last saw any Corvette tooling around in the salt slush. It's as rare as Haley's Comet.

The vast majority of people here who buy Corvettes do not drive them in the winter. The ones who do either cannot afford anything else so they have to drive them year 'round, and the other group has money to burn and simply don't care about the car; they will trade it in for a new one in a few years.

Sounds good, and nice to have the service history! Have you decided whether or not to still use a 3rd party to inspect it, and how are you going to transport it? With what you're going to spend on transport, you could just fly down, and drive it back! That's what I would do. Good luck.
