[QUOTE=06Rawpower;1599121050]Oh okay I know the general area. I lived in Indiana for17 years, station at Grissom AFB.

Northern Lower Michigan.

Yes, not too far north east of Grissom.

Used to mushroom hunt Cadillac to Boyne to Petoski. Fished half a dozen lakes near Traverse City.

I love it. Its one of those colors that even dirty it looks good. It was covered in dust which despite the sun is its still to cold to wash it.

I think there may be sufficient differences in cars to warrant a convertible site. For example, my trunk lid does not automatically release the first time I try to press the button, under the dash or above the license plate, without my gently tugging on the trunk lid. After I open it once, it will work perfectly for a few hours.

I have a 2006 base model with a manual transmission. Snow or heat doesn't seem to adversely affect the lid.

Anyone have this problem? My local mechanic said it is probably due to something electronic - aka, expensive.

I have an 06 as well. I replaced the trunk struts and it helped. Some vendors sell an assist spring that will give the lid a little more "pop".

I would try simple before expensive.

Many thanks Jeff. Do you have any vendors in mind?

I like the comment - "try simple before expensive'

Good to know as my 06 vert Manuel trans trunk lid does the same, except that it works best when using the dash trunk button.

Thanks. Nice to normal mine is normal.

Have you tried the springs offered by Corvette Mods? Or, have you moved the adjusters on either side of the trunk lid? I had new struts installed. Nice but no help.

I like your color - yellow. Great!

No but I will be ordering that spring assist. Good to know replacing the struts isn’t a fix, though I feel bad for you that it didn’t work.

Thanks! . Always thought I’d never like yellow but preferred Blue but the Velocity Yellow is a much better shade of yellow that I do like. Love at first sight!
Is your Vette yellow?

No, mine is red. The only other color I would have considered was yellow. I guess I want to be arrested.

All the best,

Peter

I’ve been pulled over by the police once in 3 years that I’ve had this yellow vert and that was out west in the state of Wyoming. Truthfully I was only going 7 mph over posted, didn’t get a ticket, it was the end of the troopers shift he told me, 2 miles from state line and I think he really just wanted to see & look over the beautiful car with the comments he was making about it lol. I nicknamed this color “High Visibility Yellow”. So I behave myself knowing that my Vert will be seen very easily.

Makes sense to me. I think many police people are around cars so much they begin to appreciate them. I am biased but who is not impressed by a well-kept Vette. You get the second looks I do when driving. Even when I park mine in the snow, people say I am crazy for driving it. It is too special for that. We are very lucky. But then again since we are always being watched, we had better not be doing anything wrong.

I just realized/saw where you live. We have 2 adult children in Columbus, Ohio area. One lives southern fringe of Columbus by train yards and other lives in Galloway. We get down there a few times a year. Especially with a new granddaughter born just November. The attention that a nicely kept Vette gets took me a bit to get used to first year that I owned this C6. Which this will be my 3rd summer of ownership.
So you drive your vert year around? Atleeast not a lot of snow down there. Do you change up tires for winter driving then?
Yes, we are a very blessed group of beautiful automobile owners in deed. It had been my dream car since I was 7 years old when I had a Hot Wheels Vette. 51 years later I bought my first real Vette. I wish I’d bought one sooner.

Hi,

Better late than never. I gave my 16 year old my 5 year old WRX and had to select a new daily driver. since I could use the WRX if snow got too bad, I decided to search for what I wanted. Then I realized I did not 'want' any of the new cars. I had bought my first Corvette, a 66 convertible, when it was 26 months old. I was 18 and it was great! Then I got accepted at Oakland University in Michigan so I sold the Vette and bought a VW microbus. I always regretted the necessity. When I bought my 2nd Vette, it was when I was a sales person living in Singapore. I made too much money to turn down a $15000 Vette in a showroom window. I bought it, put it in a storage container. 6 months later I returned to Los Angeles with a 20 year old Corvette. Marriage and another overseas assignment took that one from me. I will keep my new one.

I just changed to Continental DWS year round and they work fine all the time. If there is lots of snow, I slip the clutch. Everything works fine.

Best, Peter

Before spending $20 on a spring.... check out the thread I started a while ago. CLICK HERE

The latch always released, but the trunk lid never popped up very far. With the 75 cent spring and 10-15 minutes of time.... I pop any trunk release button and it pops up like it should.
