I stuck my finger in there and it is not a "blank space" at all. I stuck my fob in there today as well, but didn't encounter any sticking. I've done that before ( I actually had to do that years ago when I couldn't get my fob battery back in) but never really paid attention to what was going on.

The equivalent space on my C7 is just a blank box. Not sure when this changed (if it did on the C6 gen at all). I never stuck my finger into the slot on my Z06.

It never occurred to me to do so before this.

Learn something new every day, and I'm glad you retrieved your fob w/o any damage.

Yes that is exactly how key fob was removed.

I use the cars auto lock feature so I dont have to use my FOB to lock. Also with FOB in pocket I just open my car door when I get to it. I dont think either way is sending a signal out my FOB is it?

Good for you!. Even a thin butter knife or other thin kitchen utensil. My wife has these bakery frosting applicators that are exceptionally thin, very appropriate.

No, the fobs and cars do not constantly check with each other. They both spend an incredibly small amount of energy "listening" but are otherwise passive, Only when a button on either the fob or car is pressed do they talk to each other.

I hope this answered your question.

but that's not even what this thread was about.I think this was another related thread necro.

Revived a 6-year old thread for an unrelated post. Seem to be getting more and more of those.
