2005 CORVETTE:
Has anyone here ever experienced this problem?

Last time I plugged in key fob into this receptacle it was removed easily by just pulling it out.

Now it is stuck. It moves around a little bit at different angles up and down but it is so tight that it bent the metal on key ring and put a hole in my finger.

Any special trick to remove key fob?

Maybe spray some lubricant around it. There really is nothing in that slot that could be holding it.

Wow....thats a first....never heard of that one. Maybe hook up a loop to the fob and put a screwdriver through the loop and pull it out that way

I may have to use some pliers to pull it out. ( use more force and leverage)

I tried by hand and as previously mentioned but was afraid if I used maximum muscle it might pull out everything circuits included if there are any behind it. The thin key ring broke punctured my finger.

The car runs but it doesn't lock.

Like WD-40? Might that damage the key fob or anything behind there?

The fob is moisture proof and that slot is an empty plastic box.

I got 1 stuck in a nissan. had to partially dis-assemble the dash & just kept jabbering the sides with a tiny screw driver and knife. it came free.

It was shoved up against the black piece of plastic in recepticle that was wedged into one of the key buttons in front of keypad.

At least it's 'on record' now, probably happen again and some poor soul will learn The Solution's a putty knife.

That's the kind of luck I have.
Even the Chev. dealership told me they have never heard of this happening.
I will be that ONE in a million with some problem.

On a good note I replaced both key FOB batteries and all features of key FOB from picking up FOB Display Indicator Center, hatch release to manual locking/unlocking and auto locking are all operating at 100%.

Replaced original 2005 battery last year 2017
71,000 plus miles my low brake indicators just started a low squeal which means my first brake job is coming up on 2005 4spd. automatic

I will say that this thread made me wonder about the slot on my '05, and, sure enough, there are bits of plastic sticking out in both sides in the slot. The left side seemed like a swinging bit that would act like a pressure to keep the right side pressed up against the rough bit of plastic bits (which got caught up in the OP's fob).

Not sure what they are there for, given what little I know about electromagnetic induction, but now I can see how this happened to jam the fob in there.

I did put key fob in years ago and it went in very easy and removed very easy.

It is possible that I may have pushed it in too far but dealership told me there is nothing back there that holds it or plugs into.

I did notice that one of the buttons on key fob was marked or compressed where it got stuck.

Haven't heard of this before. The only possibility I can think of is one of the buttons is getting hung on something (although I don't know what that could be). Try sliding something like a small putty knife or butter knife down the side the buttons are on to depress them and see if that frees it up. Good luck.
