Default TPMS relearn issue

I have an O7 coupe.

I got my tires changed today and had one of the TPMS replaced, after that the tire store tried to relearn all the TPMS but could not get it to work (followed the relearn procedure where you put in accessory mode and press the lock/unlock buttons on fob).

Is there some trick?

It was able to recognize only two of the four TPMS whereas all four were working prior to tire replacement.

Did it recognize the TPMS unit that was replaced?

Why did you replace the one unit - was it failing?

I replaced all 4 of mine a couple of months ago. I used the exact OEM Schrader 20076 sensors that the factory installed and the relearn process went flawlessly. I sourced my own sensors and took the tires off myself taking them to a tire store to have them installed and re-ballanced. I did that part myself because I wanted to clean and detail the wheels and so that the wheel barrels would be clean for a good adhesion of the new stick on weights.

In preparation I also ordered a TPMS reset tool from ebay for about $25 and it all worked perfectly. Is the new sensor that was installed possibly not compatible with the rest or the system?

When you start the procedure at drivers front does the problem start at the new tpm?

I took my car to one of the member's house and he used his tool to check my sensors. The new one is not able to be read but the other ones are.

Could it be possible you need a special tool to read it? This is the one that I bought:

Sounds like either the wrong sensor or the battery in it was DOA.

I was warned off using the universal TPMS modules by a guy who's been in the business for years. This was one of the problems that he described. Dorman does make a programming tool for the multifit sensors:
Amazon Amazon

I'm really not trying to give you a hard time, but I don't understand why you bought the Dorman sensor, when for $2 more you could have the OEM unit, complete with nut, grommet, etc. This TPMS unit is supposed to work, at least according to the parts guy at the local dealership.

It had better, because I just bought 4 of them.

Unfortunately your car can’t read a incorrect tpm with any tool.

As a side note, I purchased 4 tpm’s for my moms car from amazon about 2 years ago supposed to be exact replacement. Had them all mounted only to find out they weren’t exact replacement. Money wasted and lesson learned. If I ever replace any more they will come straight from vehicle manufacturer using VIN.

I just went on Amazon and bought the one that fit my 07. The link you provided does not fit my 07 according to Amazon.

I even went on Dorman's website prior to buying and it says it will fit my 07.

I do not have a lot of knowledge when it comes to TPMS - my first experience changing one.

Could a bigger tire shop have a tool that might read the Dorman sensor that my small shop and Forum member might not have?

Are you saying the TPMS is not for my car or that it is defective? According to Dorman's website it fits my 07.

Amazon site said the ones I ordered were correct but they were not. The margin for error is pretty big. Using the actual VIN is the only way to be 100% correct with no margin for error.

I learned early on with my car there are at least 2 different tpm’s that we’re used for my year. I have several different wheels I change to and always were asked for the vin to be sure of correct part.
