Default This memory crap sucks!

Look I'm an old guy that loves Corvettes - I got this '08 last week and has the 4LT options that includes "memory" seat/mirror and lord knows what else - I tried reading the owner's manual to get a handle on how all this works - I get into it when my ADD kicks in and I get nowhere - I just want the seats to quit moving around - stop this memory crap - can it be done in some simple manner - thanks.

If you want to stop the seats, etc, from moving around when you get into and out of the car you can turn off Auto Memory Recall. That setting is in the DIC Personal Options Menu. (Option button to right of steering wheel). See DIC Vehicle Personalization in Owners Manual. I eventually decided to turn this off too.

Pump the brakes, old man (I'm probably older than you ). Once you set the seat position and "memorize" it the seat should not move around at all...unless the "exit" position has been set in the DIC.
When I bought my first C6 I sat in the seat with the owners manual (and a toddy) and read some, touched some, and got a handle on it.

You need a millennial to show you how to change settings on the program. They can program the readout to say "Hi Old Man" every time you start the car.

Not sure about that, but there is a story about the Flew Bird. Seems every time the Flew Bird crapped on somebody's head the person died. The moral to the story is...if the Flew *****, wear it.

I may seriously consider reprograming mine to say "Hi Old Man" instead of "Chevrolet Performance"...………… that is too funny

although no one besides you and I have driven mine...…….

Actually most things today are programed and the guides written by the “computer age”, Call them what you will, but coming from tehnical background when the computer was just an engineering, accounting tool, we are expecting instructions to be complete without the “usual steps “left out.

I was a bit frustrated with the Memory seats, as well. But only for one day. Look at Page 10 in the manual. Just set the mirrors, steering wheel telescope and seat where you want it. And then push the "1" button on the door, and hold it, until you hear the two beeps. Easy peasey.

This is only if YOUR key fob is number 1. If your wife's key fob is number 1 (hey, could happen) and yours is number 2, then press the "2" button. Numbers are on the back of the key fobs.

I've done that - but the seat still moves when I start the car - I just want everything to stop moving - I came into the computer world using "punch cards" - and it was called Data Processing then (1969).
LOL
Thanks

What will really **** you off is when you decide to use the other key fob and have to re-do everything again.
LOL

You can set up each key fob for different radio, hvac, mirror and seat settings.

Good luck!

I programmed my wife's key to say "Hi Honey"; although she didn't enjoy driving it much especially after going boosted.

Entering the Personal
Options Menu
To enter the personal options menu,
use the following steps:
1. If you have an automatic
transmission vehicle, turn the
vehicle on with the shift lever
in P (Park).
If you have a manual
transmission vehicle, turn the
vehicle on with the parking
brake set.
To avoid excessive drain on the
battery, it is recommended that
the headlamps are turned off.
2. Press the OPTION button and
you will enter the PERSONAL
OPTIONS menu.
The DIC will display the current
driver number (1 or 2) for a few
seconds and then will display
instructions on which buttons
to use for setting the
personalizations. The RESET
button is used to select a setting
for a particular feature. The
OPTION button is used to move
to the next feature.
3. Press the OPTION button
while the instruction screen is
displayed to enter the first
personalization menu item.
4. Once you have cycled through
all of the personal options,
pressing the OPTION button
a final time exits the personal
options menu. In addition, if
no button is pressed within
45 seconds, the DIC will exit
the personal options menu.
Personal Options
The following options are available
for programming:

you to choose the measurement

Chevrolet Corvette Owner Manual - 2011 Black plate (57,1)

Auto Memory Recall (Automatic
Transmission only): If your
automatic transmission vehicle has
the memory package, you may have
this option. This option allows the
driver seat, the telescopic steering
column, if your vehicle has this
feature, and the outside rearview
mirrors to automatically move to the
current driver's set position when
the engine starts.
Press the OPTION button until
AUTO MEMORY RECALL appears
on the display, then press the
RESET button to scroll through the
following modes:

If you choose NO, this option will
turn off.
When the mode you want is
selected, press the OPTION button
to set your choice and advance to
the next personal option.
Auto Exit Recall: If your vehicle
has the memory package, you may
have this option. This option allows

this feature, to automatically move
to the current driver's exit position
when one of the following occurs:
. The vehicle is turned off or in
Retained Accessory Power
(RAP) or accessory mode and
the driver door is opened.
. The vehicle is turned off or in
RAP and the unlock button on
the RKE transmitter is pressed.
In order for the Auto Exit Recall
feature to work on an automatic
transmission vehicle, the vehicle
must be in P (Park). On a manual
transmission vehicle, the parking
brake must be set.
Press the OPTION button until

the display, then press the RESET
button to scroll through the following
modes:
. YES
. NO (default)
If you choose YES, when you turn
the ignition off and open the driver
door or press the unlock button on
the RKE transmitter, the seat and
the telescopic steering wheel, if your
vehicle has this feature, will return
to their stored exit positions for an
easy exit or an easy entrance when
returning to the vehicle.
The seat and steering wheel will
only return to the stored driving
position if you press the appropriate
memory button or activate the Auto
Memory Recall feature.
If you choose NO, this option will

Sounds pretty X-rated, What you do in your car should be between you and your car, TMI!

My issue with the memory function is it decides what/when it remembers. No matter how many times I set it, save everything, it will still decide it's own final placement and I have to readjust everything. It'll remember for a couple cycles then completely change on me.

Just set the "exit" position the same as your driving position. Since the "exit" position and driving position will be the same, nothing will move.
