Default Hood liner, insulation pad for 2006 base model unavailable anywhere.

Have spent many hours searching online, calling and speaking to vendors, corvette repair shops, etcetera, and have not been able to locate an OEM hood liner for my 2006 base model Corvette. Was told they were discontinued by GM five years later in 2011, but not sure that is true. Is there a source for these that I am not aware of? Found one vendor only who gets the OEM pads from an unknown location then makes a liner cover with threaded embossing on it which are quite expensive and out of my reach. Thanks a lot!

Did they change at some point? I was able to buy one for my 2013 last year after the mice in my brothers garage ate mine.

Yes, they were the same configuration only for the 2005 and 2006 C6 and were discontinued in 2011. I have looked everywhere and even called GM yesterday and they were not able to help. You would think someone would make them ‘aftermarket’ to fit the base coupe and with the hole for the hood light. The aftermarket parts have to be endorsed by GM or they are not supposed to be sold. Thought about buying an alternative year like for the 2004 but then it would require some cutting and the insides are this fluffy off-white material and can make a real mess if not done properly. A website called car motorsports.com makes them up for the 05 and 06 years. They somewhere have a source of OEM liners and then they make this high temp material that they wrap it in and emboss it with various logos with imported threads from Germany and they are outside of my ability to afford. Thanks for your note!

Default hood liner

MARV2006, I have one that has the flag decal on it that is like new, I purchased it for my 2006 and had it on for about 2 months and then traded for a 2010 so put the original back on it and kept the newer one. It has the hole for the light and is in excellent shape and I would lit it go for not a lot of $ but the shipping would be high. If you are interested in it let me know. I do still have it in the box that it was shipped in and it is stored in that box. I haven't looked at it for a while as it is stored over head in my garage but I think it is still in good shape. If you were not so far away I would meet you but I am in western Iowa so would be quite a drive.

shipping would be a killer because of the size of the box.

Thanks for your note, although I have a pretty large hole or I should say slice in the liner that is about 2 inches wide by a foot-long. Performance shop who did the install of my Procharger did not check the serpentine belt lineup of the supercharger with the harmonic balancer pulley and the belt slid over tearing off the outside rib partially, about 12 inches long, and it slapped a giant slice in the liner pad! My OEM hood liner stuffing material is real fine and it went all over the engine bay sticking to the engine and everywhere with a lot of it getting sucked into the supercharger filter. Hopefully none got through the filter! Quite the mess and time consuming to clean up but it’s all done. Weird thing to happen so I am looking now for a replacement insulation pad. Since the OEM liners are no longer to be found in this country or Canada, I’ve been in touch with one website that makes a liner that goes over the original pad and glues in place. Kind of expensive but my only option at this point. Thanks z06clif.

Yea, but they are supposed to insulate the hood to keep the paint from eventually being affected over time......I guess. Probably err on the side of replacing. Thanks Jeff T

If you have the part number, you can have your chevy parts guy do a nationwide search. They can print off the results and give them to you. I've done that with discontinued parts myself.

Thanks again double D. Guy was real nice in parts. He also did a national search of dealerships and he found nothing. I asked a number of other Chevy dealerships to do the same and nothing was found either. I think I have located one though from another Forum member. Appreciate it

Default Hood liner

Yeah, I had a number of different Chevy dealerships do a nationwide search and they all came up with nothing other than discontinued. Have located one from another Forum member so I think I am in some luck. Thanks a lot
