Default VPK option on my '08

I have this option and have been unsuccessful at finding out the number of cars produced with this option. I've not seen another C6 with it - a couple of guys even thought some one had out siders perform the work. I've been on a couple sites that shows options but not this VPK option.

What does the VPK stand for? What does it do? If it's something GM put on the car, it will be listed in the Corvette Black Book that I have a copy of.

My 2008 was factory ordered and never heard of this as an option, nor in the aftermarket world.

Ultimate Appearance Package, a dealer installed option with cove screens, exhaust filler, body colored door handles and spoiler and a few other items. I think it included 15 spoke rims, as well.

The Corvette Black Book doesn't list it as a 2008 Dealer-Installed Option, but does list it as a 2010 Dealer Installed Option. However, it doesn't say what's in the package, just calls it a GCA Ultimate Exterior Appearance, of which 10 were sold for $2,110 each. VPL package says "w wheels" for $5,475.

Corvette Action Center lists it for 2009 (but not 2008) as "Sales Package - Corvette, Accessory Package A" ... I seem to remember it much as SouthBaySurfer describes it ... a collection of dealer-installed accessories.

As you can see it's on the dash tag - and the dealership print out I got last week. I've not seen this mention anywhere. The door handles and spoiler are painted same as body - a quick give away - plus the screens which anyone can add.

What I saw online was that it was a late 2008 option.

Last 5 digits of the VIN: 26971 out of 35310 Vettes built for model year 2008. 76% of the way through the build year.

Doesn't answer OP's question but the earliest mention I could find for this pkg was talon90's explanation on June 24, 2008. The OP asked about "ordering" info so I assume it was in reference to an '09 since orders for '09's had just started about that time. It must have been made available on late '08's though since the OP here has one.

But anyway.........

At this point I can only assume that my car is a "late" '08 and got the VPK option - I don't know when the car was built - help - does the VIN tell this ?

Look on the driver's door jamb, should be a sticker showing month/year of production at least.

For reference, my '08 was VIN 32570 and came off the line May 22, 2008.

OP, had a late thought. The Museum might be able to help you. They might be able to get that info if you ask nicely.
