IMO high probability the map reader laser lens is dirty.
A cleaning disk may help, but disassembly of Radio/ Nav unit so you can physically clean the lens may be the answer.
Also canned air and a vacuum (suck out the dust) may help.
This is burdensome task, I've done it.
Try a search for radio/ nav unit disassembly.
Hardest issue in disassembly for me was the screen removal, I could not disconnect the screen to unit wiring connector.
There is also a copper ground (in an upper corner) that can be fragile.
