Default 2012 Grand Sport Front Splitter

Quick Question, has anybody just removed and gone "naked"
Due to speed bumps in my neighborhood, mine was already getting pretty nasty.
I'm on a road trip in Bar Harbor, and really scraped if bad on an incline.
Was thinking of just removing when I get home,as a replacement is just going to get ruined anyway

Strange ...

Usually that 3-piece rubber air dam way underneath the front end gets all ripped up before the front splitter actually gets damaged.

I replaced mine with a factory replacement. I don't think it's the actual splitter that's hitting but a rubber 3 piece unit underneath just behind the splitter. My '13 GS does it regularly... The splitter apparently also helps direct air for cooling I'm pretty sure so I'd definitely have something in it's place.... Good luck.

BTW .... If you ever replace the front splitter, you might think about getting the ZR1 style splitter instead.

Just a thought ...

Here is my GS with the ZR1 splitter:

That looks great BTW, I've got a Supersonic as well and thought about that but found a factory GS stocker for a great price.

So, another SSB car ... that's great!

The Z06 and the GS use the same OEM front splitter ... I just removed mine and replaced it with the ZR1 style for something different ... My original splitter is still in perfect shape ... I guess I will just hold on to it for ol' time sake

The front part of the splitter "caught" the pavement on a steep incline and pulled it down, front pointed part of splitter has separated a few inches from bumper cover, with bolt and retainer ripped out.
I pushed it back in place, but definitely need to replace when I get home.
Never really had splitter issues with my old 07 base 😫😫😫

Why would any of them sold on Ebay need to be painted? ... There just unpainted black flexible plastic.

And the color and texture of that splitter I showed you matches the black plastic around the wheel wells and the rear diffuser on your car.

Really no need to have it refinished, unless you really want to.

Looks to me like the ZR1 style will have an even worse rubbing problem than the GS/Z06 style. And these DO RUB. All you have to do is get down and look at all the scrape marks on them. I should replace mine too.

Anyone have experience with the fiberglass ones? Wouldnt they crack and break easier than the semi flexible plastic splitters on the Z06/GS?

Again, they do. I hit a small piece of 4x4 at speed and it eliminated about 1/3 of the splitter. I now have a stock, beat up OE splitter on mine.

I just cracked my 2013 GS chin. I did not like regular design with the vents with the small plastic pieces - they all broke off.

Fitting a ZR1 design now.

$165 - eBay
