Brake noise on daily driven GS
Has anyone experienced low speed squealing on their daily driver? I've been told that it is very common on Z51 & the Z06. There is no continuous noise to indicate that replacement is needed, just embarrassing squealing when driving in a parking deck (every day) or stop & go traffic.

What have you been doing on this forum for the last 12 years? Since the Grand Sport came out there has been almost a weekly thread on this subject! So to answer your question most members switched to ceramic brake pads, myself included and the exact noise you are describing is gone.

I've been lurking in the C6 forum. Moved into a C6 Vert in 2010 and into a Centennial GS in 2016. As has been my normal all have been daily drivers. I have always used ceramic pads, The pads I have now are Autozone. Do I need to try something else?

Auto Zone ceramics are also what a lot of members went to. You should have zero noise when using them.

I’ve heard of other folks with pads that squek
1- try and brake hard a few times to get some of the glazing off
of the pad and rotor. 30-5mph should work
2- Carbotec 1521 pads will stop the squealing

With time, the anti-rattle clips that support the padlets lose their tension. Replacing them typically solves the squeak.
In addition, the pins have pads on them that roll. With time they gum up with brake dust and general road grime. Cleaning them can solve squeaks. If you can’t get them to rotate on the pins, the caliper pins need to be replaced.

OP, Autozone sells both ceramic and semi-metallic. Since your car came with non-ceramic pads, it is possible/likely the PO replaced with same. Yes, new pads can be put on used rotors, though it is not usually done. If the rotors are not scored, you can put new pads on with no problem. You sound like you are not a mechanic, so I would have an independent shop install new ceramic pads, after they make sure the rotors are okay.
As for your Centennial, congrats. I have a base Centennial coupe, and love it. Get your pads changed out, and you will be a happy camper.

I have never once heard my brake pads squeal on my 10' GS since brand new, changed out the padlets a few years with the same metallic pads as original no ceramic for my GS.

Yes, you can still put the grease on. Did you bed in the pads after they were installed last year? If not, you can also try going through that process after you put the grease on the back of the pads. Very

Yup, had this issue on my 08 Z06. Go with the Powerstop Z26 pads. I've had them for 4-5 months and love them. No squealing whatsoever. Good price and also keeps brake dust to a minimum.
