It is no ware near as easy as the C5, but if you have a little mechanical ability you can do it. the hardest part is getting the different wiring connector apart. Here is a video that may help,

Go to MGW's (shifter) web site. They have step by step AND they even advise to be very careful taking the console screws in and out so you dont strip the wood. Even I have done it several times with no extra or broken pieces.

Never saw any wood when i took my console apart to install the bluetooth adapter.

On my 05 these 4 screws go in to wood. I believe that is what psp6158 was referring to.
