Default Test drove a c7 stingray

Hi I have a 2012 Camaro SS and I test drove a C6 z06 but wanted the targa roof..so I was looking at C6 gs.. I just test drove a c7 base stingray and I felt like I liked the C6 z06 better..it felt more raw to me..is this an unpopular opinion? I even felt like my dad's c5 convertible felt just more fun to me

There are those, to include myself who have test drove the C7s and prefer the C6 over it for a multitude of reasons, least of not which is the overall looks and 'feel' in the driver's seat. There are number of us who don't care for the looks of the C7. I, along with other's, also feel 'cramped in' and less comfortable driving the C7 in comparison to the C6. Don't get me wrong, the C7 is an awesome vehicle in regards to performance, it's just not for me and I won't be giving up my C6 anytime soon … maybe when and if the mid engine ever comes out.

while I haven't driven a C7, I have at least sat in a few. along with the C7 feeling more cramped, I personally do not care for
looks of the interior. too much of a computer game feel. I love the look and layout of the C6 instrument panel. I even like the look & feel of the steering wheel. I know that it is from a cobalt, but it doesn't matter to me. especially when compared to C5 ( & 2005 C6 ) wheel.
the C7 exterior has me hot or cold. maybe it depends on the angle, but I haven't yet found an angle on the C6 that I don't like.
if I'm lucky enough to get a second 'vette, it'll be a C3 ( '68--'72 ).
back to reality!

I think it was a little less of a "go kart" feel I got out of c5 and c6

It would be interesting to see just how many people would swap their C-6 straight up for a C-7 if given that gifted opportunity......

I've often thought about that scenario. if I had the money for a new C7, I'm pretty sure it would go towards a Z06, with $$$ left over
for any upgrades.
If I was given a new C7, I'm sure I would keep it. at least for a while anyways. not that I do not like them, but preference is the C6.
who knows, maybe it would even win me over.
I'm open for beta test!

It if swapping my C6 GS with a C7 GS I would probably do it. I have driven the C7 and find the handling better (tighter) and at 5'8", I fit just fine in the C7. As much as I love my C6 it would be foolish not to swap considering my 2013 GS might be worth what...maybe $40k (very low miles) and a new C7 GS is over $80k. I felt the gauge cluster a little too busy but I can overlook that for an extra $40k.

Love my C6 but if offered I would do it in a heart beat. Crazy not to. GM built the C7 because it is an improvement over the C6. May be tight to some or ugly to some but overall a better car plain and simple. That being said the C7 has its issues too. They ALL have issues.

I wouldn't trade my 2011 GS for a new GS. I looked at new C7's and while some things were impressive from a technological standpoint, overall I felt the C6 was a much better car, and didn't have that computer game feel when looking at the dash and all the gimmicks it came with. I felt the ride was worse, but I attribute that to the C7 having run flats and my GS not. I don't like the looks of the C7 as they are too "euro" and the Vette is an American car.

Overall, I just felt the C7 was a step backward and when the years have gone by, it will be the C6 that's compared to the C2's and the C7's compared to the C4's.

I agree with all that you stated above. if given the choice ( and I'm sure it's a matter of my age, 55yro ), of any corvette, It would be a '68 - '72.
big block, 4 spd, side pipes. I went with my current '09 since, it was in my price range. the C3's, for what I wanted, were more then I could justify.
the C7 haven't been around long enough to have a "soul". maybe it'll change in the near future.

My brother has a C7. it has about the same performance as the C6 LS3. It has a nicer interior. The auto tranny is pretty nice too and more electronics.

My C6 is a stick. Mine be a little tossable but I am not going to toss around my bro's car

I would. Then I would sell the C7 and buy two C6's.

I'm not sure what you mean by unpopular opinion? It's your opinion and that's ultimately what matters in your choice of generations.

I have test driven plenty of C6's and a few C7's and I prefer the C7. I might move to a C7 at some point but with all the mods on my C6 and the release of the C8, I am in no hurry. I might end up liking the C8 even more then the 6 or 7. If not, I'm guessing prices for C7's will be even lower. Might as well wait it out another year or two.

Drove the 2017 Stingray vert and it was a fun ride.
But bought the c6Z and it is raw/thrilling/addicting - wouldn't trade it.
If I needed a daily ride I would prefer the C7. And yes - both would be great.

When the C4's came out it really didn't light my fire. Then as time passed I steadily lost more interest in them. I feel the same about the C7. I also agree that in the future, the C6 will rank (in desirability and popularity) right behind the C2.

I test drove a new manual stingray and while it’s a cool ride I didn’t think it was soooo much better that I wanted to trade in my purchased new c6 m6 z51.my last ride was a c5 z06 and before that a c5 z51. All purchased new. Btw I put 124k miles on my c6 z51manual. Great sports car.

when the c8 rolls out with its dct transmission ,I’ll test drive one as well as a c7 z06 manual and then decide.

you can get a c6 z06 for around 30 grand these days...

buy the car you like.

Btw there is a new mod out that copies the c7 headlights if the look of the c7 headlight is a big deal for you.

i think the group purchase is a grand plus install.

ymmv...

roof off is a big deal for many...if you dig the wide body then just get a c6 grand sport..

buy what you like.

Jerri, you will love the C7 Z06. I bought mine new in 2016. It's an M7 and is a blast to drive. I had a C6 Z06 before it. Loved that car as well. The C6 Z is a little more raw and I loved the naturally aspirated 427, but the C7 Z is a better car in almost every way. The C6 platform is fantastic but the C7 platform is an improvement. Looks are subjective, of course. I've owned every generation and they do get better every generation. The C6 may be the best bang for the buck though.

Wow talk about denial, living in the past, silly excuses, etc. etc. The C7 is better than the C6 in every way. The C6 was the best but you can not stop or be blind to positive change. Now bash away I am done and out of here the land of I love my round tail lights.

I can think of at least one way it's not better.....it's smaller inside. I hit my head on the roof of every model. IMO that makes it a ****-poor alternative to the C6 that I fit in just fine.
