If someone is selling their car, no matter what car it is, they can ask any price they want. Doesn’t mean someone will buy it. There is always going to be sellers looking to get top dollar for their car just as there will always be buyers looking to pay rock bottom prices. Ultimately, the right price for any car is the price both buyer and seller can agree to.

I think it has a lot to do with the C6 GS's have found a niche in the Corvette line that is unique. It has power, luxury, handling, and looks all in one package. Add the removable targa top and the GS is pretty much the perfect cruising Corvette.
It's not all about how much horsepower is under the hood, or how much carbon fiber your car has. Some of us just really enjoy driving the backroads on a sunny summer day or traveling the back roads of America and the C6 GS is just about the perfect car for doing it in.

I haven't seen same year GS and Z06 priced the same. Typically it is a 3 year older Z06 priced comparable to a GS. Way too many variables to make sense out of it. 4LT GS vs 1LT Z06, Z06 ragged out and twice as many miles as the low mileage, pristine GS. Etc, etc, etc. Keep looking until you find the car that you are looking for, at a price you are willing to pay.

As for saying "the GS won't ever cost the same as a Z06 year for year" isn't something I'd bet the farm on over the long term.
Track a Z06, and that's what it was designed and marketed for, and the value of it is definitely going to go down. The market they feed is far different, and much smaller from the GS. I looked at a number of them and I wasn't going to buy a car somebody else had run hard.

The Z06 is only superior if you are looking for those attributes it offers over the GS. Not everybody, in fact most Corvette buyers, based on sales numbers, aren't interested in the upper level performance aspects of the Z06.

I know the fact that LS7's keep blowing up has swayed a lot of people from purchasing a Z06. I know the heads can be fixed but a lot of people don't want the extra headache.

I am one of those people who prefers an essentially bulletproof LS3 to the somewhat problematic LS7. Not to mention that you really can't fully utilize 436 hp on the street without being reckless, much less 505. If I was in the market for a C7 it would be the same. There have been way too many problems on the C7 Z06.

This was the primary reason I bought a GS over a Z06. I track my cars too and honestly 60hp isn't going to make or break my enjoyment, it's still plenty fast. Plus having the removable roof for nice days is fun and I didn't want to throw money for heads at a car I just bought. It might only be a small percentage of cars but that stigma is still out there that the LS7 has valve issues.
