Default Base C6 Widebody questions!!

Hey everyone im looking into doing a widebody on my 2006 base model C6, the Supervettes kit is too pricy at the moment. What would you guys recommend possible just a rear wide body for now or using OEM z06 fenders on my base if anyone has a link on how to do that or a cheaper alternative. Any info you have please let me know thank you!!

You can buy Grand sport or Z06 panels from a GM dealer or there are some vendors on here who sell them. I am partial to factory body panels. Jmo

Use OEM kits and you will be so happy. Have an 05 with Z06 kit and its the best mod I did to the car even though I have done several. The panels are not that hard to exchange but a good body shop could do and match paint to rest of car. There are vendors on here that sell the entire kit. If money is an issue start with the rear and work your way forward. A wide booty is awesome from the rear..

I have OEM Wide BOOTY done and absolutely love it. To be honest, I haven't done the front only because I love the way the booty sticks out with the narrow front end. Might be crazy, but I like it.

I just got in a 12 Grand Sport to dismantle, I can sell you the rear quarters, wheel well liners, and brake ducts at a good price. PM me if interested. I believe I have all the front parts off a Z06 too. Let me know.

Id save the money and just sell your base car and buy a grand sport or z06...

higher mileage z06 s are going for 26 to 28 grand..

as long as you dont mind the roof not coming off...

thats my suggestion..

.....except for the 6.7L valve guide issue. I was looking at Z06's at both dealer and private and no one would testify to knowing the problem or have paper work for the fix. Buyer beware.

GM parts have a great fit. I would suggest doing parts cost study for everything that you will need, body panels, wheels, tires and big brakes if you really want to go all the way with the conversion. It can get expensive especially if you are not able to do most of the work yourself. Better to know up front.

I just finished a complete conversion. I’d suggest going OEM as the fit was perfect except one used ZR1 fender i bought.

Check eBay for used quarters or fenders. I bought some used parts off a guy selling on here. Had them painted in Florida then shipped to me and surprisingly the color looks great.

DiabloZ mentioned above he has some used parts for sale. That is a great way to go.

A complete conversion can be expensive when you include wheels and tires also.

I’m over in Pleasanton if you want to see my conversion some time. I can give you some tips that might help.

Thats what I had planned! Do you have a link to where you bought the fender from?

If anyone lives within driving distance of Sylvania, Oh, near Toledo and can pick up their parts, CheapestGMParts is the answer. Rear Z06 quarters plus install kit (I have the part #'s) under $1900 with tax, out the door.

Sell the base and buy a OEM wide body instead.

Hence you can play the For show game of wider fenders, nose, wheel liners, but there is a lot more to a wide body car than just the outer looks isntead.

Hence different rim offsets, wider tires, better suspension and brakes to go with the works as well. Plus on the Z06, stiffer frame, and the extra needed coolers when you are pushing the car (plus comes with a LS7 motor too).

Hence base with just wide body upgrade, is really a sheep in a wolf suit isntead.
I may look fine from at distance, but lacks the "teeth" when it really matters isntead.
