Default Which Vette is better?

I'm seeking my first modern Vette. I have my eyes on two... both are 2010... both are Victory Red... both are automatic... asking prices are near the KBB prices...

One is a GS... 3LT... Nav... dual mode exhaust... heated seats... HUD?... LS3... 42k miles... $31,500

The other is a Base... 3LT... 2 tops... Nav... bluetooth... HUD... heated seats... dual mode exhaust... 11,500 miles!... $32k

Yep, the mileage different is big. Tell me what you know!

Depends on whether you want the wide body GS or not, I would say that the base is overpriced by a few k even though it has low miles

x2 the guy with the base needs to have it sit online for a few months, GS for the same money-easy decision.
It doesnt pay to not drive them

The base is overpriced. Just my opinion, but I also believe the GS is overpriced, for a 2010. I would say the GS is the better choice, and it should be around $28-$29. The base should be around the same. Some, maybe most, will disagree, I am assuming these are on a lot (s), correct?

How long do you plan on keeping it? How do you plan on using it? If for many years and cruising/pleasure driving only, go with the base with 11,500 miles. At that mileage, it is barely broken in. The base will be less expensive to keep up (tires, brakes to name a few). Both have the LS3 engine and the base will be a little faster (GS weighs more) if they are both stock without any mods. Probably doesn’t mean anything. If you are going to mod it, track it or auto cross, then the GS would be a better option. The condition, maintenance history and number of owners should be taken into consideration when determining how much you are willing to pay.

I agree with this. I think they are both overpriced. If you bump up your budget just a little, you should be able to find a low mile GS. Here is one for sale close to me as an example from a private seller asking $34,750 OBO.

And another one even closer to me.

https://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/d/201...632097369.html

$32-33k would probably bring home either of these.

Remember if the tires are old you will have to replace them.

GS especially if it’s a manual. You have a put a lot of money into a base to make it widebody and dry sump. Not to mention all of the other benefits.

I’d choose this one, but not at this price. It’s a buy at $28,500.

The GS has average miles at best, and with them both being autotragic, no hand-built dry sump to brag about.

Grand Sport hands down. The wide body and suspension/brakes are a no brainer. I also agree that a 2010 should go closer to the 28500- 29500 range. Good luck!

I would always go with lower miles. Nothing over 15k miles would interest me. Model wouldn't make a difference.

...and to get more confused by. Whenever you compare two different cars, you will always jump back and forth between them. Maybe start making them more reasonably priced offers, and whichever one takes it, then bingo! I don’t envy your decision, as both cars have good points about them. It just matters what is more important to you!

Good luck,

If maintenance costs are not an issue and you don't care about miles then GS is probably the better buy but ultimately depends on what you want from the car. But I'm not as quick to dismiss the base as others may be. For me and how I use the car the base fit my needs best.

Thanks for all the insights to the new, soon to be Vette owner. Some of you have mentioned that it is up to how I will use my car. I will use it regularly in my retirement, daily if possible. Hey, enjoy it while you can! No garage queens for me. I also want a good riding car... don't need it loud and bumpy... so I may need a base model. Don't need a racer with stiff suspension and the like. For sure, I love the GS body style... but I'm thinking it has a harder suspension, or does it?
