Default 1st C6 Purchase

I'm not sure where to post this but, since I'm looking to buy my 1st C6 I thought this might be ok.

I found a C6 I'm interested in but the Carfax report shows that a Chevy dealer had it (10 miles on it). The next entry shows that it was sold at auction in a different state (with 50 miles on it) to another Chevy dealer. This is the first time I've seen something like this with a new car. I know most cars are sold at auction and it's not a red flag. However, a brand new car being sold at auction sounds odd.

Does anyone have any experience with something like this on a Carfax report?

Thanks,
Joe

I have a neighbor that purchased a new Corvette at a dealership. He drove it two days and decided it was not the car for him so he traded it on a new BMW sedan. Since the BMW dealer is in effect buying the car, it shows as an additional owner on the Carfax. When he sells it at auction, that dealer or individual that buys the car shows as an owner on the carfax. If it was a dealer, it shows as an owner. When someone buys the car, while there may have been only one real owner, the carfax shows as three owners. I just went thru this when I bought a car from out of state.

what are the other details about this car. Like year, mileage, coupe/convertible, base, Z06, GS, ZR1, options, color, and price? The members on here are pretty good at helping people determine a fair price and what other things to look for other than the # of owners on a Carfax.

Best of luck to you on your search, and welcome to the forum.

It is a C6, that means this happened so so long ago that it won't matter any more. Unless this car has like 500 miles on it i'm sure its been driven after that without issue for many miles. Do a GM report from the service department and see whats it been serviced for. Thats it, buy it.

I don't think that something like that would bother me.

^ Me neither, especially if it's an average C6 with some miles on it. If it's a garage ornament ZR1 or 427 with 2500 miles on it, I'd maybe keep looking.

Hey Joe, based solely on your op, I see no concern. As posted above sometimes an owner sells/trades within days of ownership for various reasons. My brother bought a brand new Coupe in 2008 and died weeks after purchase. I sold his car with 317 miles on it. Stuff happens. Good luck!

Make sure it is not a buyback. Sometimes a bad one gets off the line. Even seen a failed motor on one with less than 7 miles on it

An older gentleman in my area bought a new Z06, had it for two days and decided it wasn’t the car for him anfd traded in for a new Escalade. The auction thing shouldn’t be a big deal.
