C6 Wide Body FORGED Wheels ??? 18/19 or 19/20
I am newbie owner of 2012 Grand Sport with OE 18 x 9.5 +40 & 19 x 12 +59 Wheels
I have been shopping for Custom Forged/Rotary Forged Wheels wanting to stay
with 18/19" as I've told myself I dont want the "Rubber Band" Tire look or ride.
My current conclusion is that the VS (Vertini/Stance) Forged Wheels (VS02 , VS01 or VS08 are the best value
I can order 18 x 9.5 Front but rear 19" only comes as wide as 11.5
If I decide to go with 19/20" I'm thinking VERTINI Rotary Forged RF1.2 in 19 x 9.5 and 20 x 12.
I also like the 10 spoke RF1.1 & 1.3 but they only come in 20 x 11" (Rear)
Another HUGE concern is What Offset to order vs the OE Original Offsets (.40 & .59)
A couple of dealers have suggested smaller offsets so as to move wheel/tire to a more
"FLUSH" position with Fender/Qtr Panel
For the very few that are still reading who have a clue what Im writing about, would you
please be so kind as to share your knowledge/experience
I am asking that only actual owners, real users, reply.................vs the contradictory responses
from all the dealer reps, most of which I dont trust....
Thanks Much

The choice for the size of wheels comes down to personal preference and tire selection.
Many go 18 or 19 square with aftermarket wheels.
I like the taller sidewall of the tire myself - better ride (if you track on a regular basis we need to have a different discussion) less chance of pot hole damage which we are will known for in the buckeye state.
Don't buy a wheel that is narrower than what you have, even if the tire fits the contact patch with the road will be less as the tire will have the tendency to ride on the center portion of the tread and not the entire area of the tread.
I do not know where vertini wheels are made and that would be one of my first questions to get an answer to, We have way to many junk wheels offered in the USA.
I would not buy a wheel made in China, India or several other low cost, poor quality control locations. It might be more important to check the reputation of not only the wheel manufacturer but the wheel you want to by.
Forgestar has a good reputation but the F14 wheel has a nasty habit of breaking center sections, as an example.
My second challenge for you is to learn the difference between forged and "rotary forged". The latter is not really a forge process at all and affects the hoop of the wheel not the center.
I frankly think its a play on words to make you believe you are getting something that you are not - a forged wheel.
I have owned all kinds of wheels through the years and the Forgelines I have now are simply the best I have ever owned.
American made aircraft aluminum is used for the forged blanks, all machining and finishing is done in the USA.
Forgeline was a pleasure to deal with, they have an engineer on staff that checks all wheels designs for amongst other things proper brake clearance, off set, strength, run out, etc.
They have the correct measurements for flush vs stock.
I was able to choose the colors and finishes that I wanted, they guided me through the size choices - it was a wonderful experience.
Flush fit is popular as the wheel and tire are now closer to the edge of the fender lip allowing the car to appear lower.
Down side on the wide body is you will now be spraying more road debris onto the side of your car. I went to Apsis splash guards up front to keep the side of my car looking good.
Check out the link below for some information on how wheels are built and the difference between cast, flow formed/forged and Forged.

68BigBlock, Thank You for the reply
The VS Forged (collaboration between Vertini & Stance) wheels are made in Taiwan as are many Forged wheels mfgs
The VS Wheels for my 2012 Corvette are available in 18 x 9.5 & ONLY 19 x 11.5 (vs the OE 19 x 12).
How do i know NOW to follow your advice and NOT buy anything narrower than a 12" rear????
As I said in my OP the VERTINI (brand) RF series (Rotary Forged) made in Taiwan do not come in a
18/19" Sizes for my 2012 Grandsport. I am not ready to accept your conclusion that Rotary Forged Wheels
are unacceptable for my Street driven Corvette.
I may be wrong but dont think that Vertini/VS Forged can provide me with offset specs to achieve the FLUSH
fitment you wrote about....Nor have spoken with a dealer sales rep that I have trust in ....YET!!!!!!!!
I need to get offset/ET info that will guarantee me the best fit/"LOOK"
After reading my posts again can you offer me you opinions on my choices of VS FORGED 18/19 Wheels
as Im hesitant to go with the ride & narrow tire sidewall using the 19/20" Vertini Rotary Forged Wheels

saplumr, Thanks for your opinion, which differs from many others..................
Why wont you/cant you tell me if your current wheels are FORGED vs Cast ????
and do they fit as the OE's would or outboard/FLUSH with the body lines
Can you quote what the EXACT sizing and ET/offset specs are for your
favorite C6 wide body wheels. Close up pics of wheel/car would be nice

My current wheels are cast Varro and honestly I’ve never gone by offset simply by fitment and they have all been a perfect match. Not extending beyond or inside body lines.

Here's an offset calculator. This may help with your decision.
I went with forged wheels from CCW and trusted them to have the correct offsets. I was confident in my selection based on the Forum's consensus of CCW's reputation for quality and fitment. 18X9.5 and 19X13 in my case. Good luck with your purchase.
