2005 C6 with an A6 from the factory? Yes or No?
A bunch of friends were having a conversation about cars. The subject turned to Corvettes discussing the different models. One guy stated his friend has a 2005 with an A6 that he claims came from the factory that way. He further stated it doesn't have paddle shift like the 06 and newer models have, but it was definitely an A6, not an A4.
I was surprised because I had considered moving to a C6 when I had a C5 and I thought I had done enough homework. I've never heard of an 05 with an A6 from the factory. A google search shows that RPM transmissions has a conversion kit to make this change. Further search of the factory numbers shows no A6s installed in 2005, but sometimes errors are made in those numbers. So the question is, did Corvette install ANY A6 transmissions in 2005 Corvettes? Maybe just before the model year change? Or am I right, this is an aftermarket installation.
Thanks in advance for any input.

That guy is wrong. All 05's were either A4 or M6 from the factory. And it's not the identical A4 from the C5. It was redesigned and beefed up to handle the extra C6 HP.

I modded my '03 auto with a Procharger, headers, injectors....and tranny was left stock. It handled the 470ish RWHP without any issues.

Thanks for all the input. I thought about this some more. I'm guessing the owner wants to pass off his C6 as some incredibly rare version so he's claiming it came from the factory that way. I'm sure he bought it that way, but somebody loved that 2005 and replaced the A4 with an A6. Got to agree, it's a nice upgrade, just not stock.

See what the RPO code is for the transmission in his car. It should be MX0 for A4
