I bought her new and this Corvette has just performed flawlessly over the years. I could not be happier. How could GM improve upon perfection? Just saying!

Beautiful, what're the miles?
Color aside looks like my 'new-to-me '08 w/ 61K.
Easily the most thoroughly enjoyable, dependable HP vehicle I've ever owned.
Curious, have your heads been rebuilt?
Just had H/C/tune, to be on the safe side of any possible disaster.
As long as heads were off a 'baby cam'/springs/trunnions/exh valves installed, also....like it needed more HP.
Expect another 60K trouble free enjoyable miles from one of the most special one-off vehicles GM ever built.

Knowing what a 'new' LS7 costs, installed, is what's at stake.
Really need to visit CF's Z06 sub forum, learn about this issue pro & con: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums.../?prefixid=z06
In a nutshell valve guide(s) wear )cause debated) resulting in excess heat generated.
Valve head(s) then may break & falling into cylinder.
This happens & there's no repair, engine's thoroughly ruined.
Hasn't happened to every LS7, but enough to warrant concern from me as an owner anyway.
FWIW: reported happening regardless how lightly they were driven, maintained, low & high mileage.
Why a thorough inspection of vale train is highly recommended by we longtime owners.
Of course GM has to this day denied any problem.
Unless covered w/ a good aftermarket warranty, replacement cost's on an owner.
For past 10 yrs I've been covered by GMPP, last a GMEPP.
Because it was totally stock GM owed be a new LS7 if it fragged...one dealer quoted $25 large 3 years ago, well worth cost of policy.
My GMEPP expires early '19, won't qualify for any extensions so decided to be proactive & have this addressed.
Nothing's fool proof so never really outa the woods w/ anything mechanical, but the statistics against failure greatly increased in my favor.
I love my Z06 like no other, expressly for the LS7.
Want to make sure it's healthy for a very long time to come for myself, or next owner.
Filed head work $ under normal maint on a 10 y/o HP vehicle & called it a day.
I might do the heads one of these days but, I have a lot of things on my plate at the moment.
At least now you're better informed; which, is more than an unlucky few unaware owners who's first post to CF's Z06 was to report their shock.
Don't be among the shocked.
Start looking at/for builders/prices et al now, several good outfits out there w/ reasonable pricing.
Minimally have a 'wiggle test' performed ASAP, learn what present condition of those guides are.
G/L

Beautiful car ! I'd like to drive a Z06 someday and feel the difference between it and my Grandsport. Love the black color, I was hard pressed to choose between red and black when I got my Vette.

I will more than likely have the head work done. There are many shops in Atlanta that could tackle the job and I just need to pick one. My grandson is already nipping at my ankles to get his hands on this car. I replied to him the quote from Charlton Heston's quote.

Beautiful ride but I’m very biased! 22k on my ‘07 and I couldn’t be happier/more amazed. Love at first sight and I swore I’d never have another black car. 500/600 mile road trips are the norm for us. Same here, no head work and don’t plan on it either. enjoy...
