Default Thank you! Previous Owner

Friends,

A couple of days ago, I got a battery tender so I could give my car/battery a little love when not driving it. When I went to connect it to the battery, I noticed that the previous owner had left his tender's connectors already connected to the battery which saved me a couple of minutes of work. More important than that those few minutes, this tells me that the previous owner (I bought he car at a Corvette dealership so I dont know who he is) also took the time to give the battery a little love. I can tell by the aftermarket additions, and small details like keeping the battery charged when not driven, that he took great care of what is now my car. Where ever you are, Sir, many thanks!!

Not only do I always take great care of my vehicles for myself (it's my hard-earned $$) but also to maximize how much I will get if I choose to sell it down the road - which inevitably always happens (23 cars in 25 years of driving I've always received top dollar when selling or trading in, & the next owner gets a well-cared for vehicle.

Yes, I completely agree.
Even though I did as much homework as possible regarding the car I bought, you are kind of waiting for the other show to drop, until you start to trust the car.... small things like this, at least for me, make a difference.

People say that to me all the time. They don't understand that between my many other hobbies, I just do not have time to get it out. I think I drove it 900 miles last year. I work 3 days a week. I need more hours in the day!!

After I bought my car and heard about all the battery problems, I put that same harness on my battery. Been using my Battery Tender Jr for many years.

I think most of us owners try to do the little things to make our Corvettes better, so the next owner will get the benefits of our sorting things out and making little improvements. After dreaming of owning a Corvette for a long time, many of us want to keep them as nice as possible.

Yup. I've never had a car so dependant on a battery being fully charged, to the rim!! This is my first Corvette, and small things like this will hopefully keep it running for many miles to come. I will be retiring in a few months, so I dont think Ill be in a position to buy a new one unless I win the lottery. I thnk I will be running this one to the ground...

All I found in my first Corvette, used, was a copy of the Book of Mormon. And that previous owner kept the damn owners manual! Had to buy one and also had to replace the battery after two weeks of ownership.

Ok, I'm a new C6 corvette owner. What is a battery tender and what does it do? While on the subject do you pull the battery when you store it for the winter?

It's just a simple low amp battery float charger that keeps your battery at 100% without overcharging it. I personally leave mine in place on the tender in the winter. A charged battery will not freeze. *under normal circumstances.

If you leave your car off of the tender/float for a month or so without driving/starting, it could drain the battery down due to a few parasitic loads.

My 2017 Stingray is my first Corvette and - next to my house - was the largest purchase in my lifetime. I did not take it lightly and go above and beyond to keep it clean & well-maintained. I also have mine hooked to a battery charger (the one that plugs in the 12v outlet in the rear hatch area) that I plug in whenever I park it in the garage.

I drive my car maybe three or times per month and still have not hit 7,000 miles since February 1 of 2017 when I drove it home new. I have had the oil & filter changed twice (at a dealership) and will do it one more time at around 9,000 miles or so before I hit my two-year ownership anniversary. The next owner will benefit from my careful maintenance and NEVER taking the car to a track or running it close to its maximum capacity.

Hopefully, I will have many trouble-free and enjoyable miles with my C7, as I doubt I will ever be able to afford the upcoming mid-engine C8 that comes out in 2020.

EDIT: Sorry for posting in the C6 section. Not sure how I ended up here, but I simply replied to another person's thread. Still, proper care by a previous owner is a great thing for ANY year Corvette.

Absolutely! Already put 800 miles in the two months Ive had it, and its not my DD. Im in Spain for a couple if weeks, so no Corvette while we are here which may be a good thing given how much they pay for their gas over here!!!
