I just had mine paint corrected and ceramic coated. I’ll probably do the ceramic coating once per year to preserve the finish.

Corrected and polished the paint myself, using Adam's products, then applied their Liquid Paint Sealant...………. have since sold this one...…… but check out the Adam's Polishes website for more information on the processes and products...……..

also have a Car Care area on the Corvette forum with a lot of good information...……………….

Preserve?
I can only add...
Never tough the paint.
Remove water with a left blower or similar.
Use best towels use can afford.
Use new towels, wash mitts, foam applicators etc...in other words junk your used applicators.
So much more.
Labor of love...a hobby.
Good luck.

1st get you a good dual action buffer and a lot of micro fiber towels and a claybar mitt or bar.
There is a lot of good products out there, i'm a Mcguire's users (i use to use chemical guys products but switched)
Get you a good cutting compound like Mcguire's D300 and a good cutting disk follow that process with some D301 finishing wax
I keep the shine up with some Meguiar's ultimate liquid wax and last touch detailer
Nothing wrong with the ceramics, i think the waxes give a much deeper shine but that's just my opinion.

I am a big fan of spray detailers but on a black car it is easy to get yourself in trouble with scratches unless you wash the car before using these products. I like Meguires new ultimate rubbing compound because it polishes while taking out scratches. My wife's MB E350 is black and I find it a nuisance to keep looking good. I have a dual action Porter Cable polisher which helps, but if your finish has too many scratches, you may want to get a professional buffing out to give yourself a better starting point. If you get too aggressive you can wear through the clear coat and paint.

As Mike Phillips from Autogeek says, Black is not a color. It is a full time occupation.

As far as protecting the paint it doesn’t matter what the color is, the process is the same. As previously stated; Touch the paint as little as possible. Wash with clean product and make sure your wash mitt or sponge or rag is clean and particle free. Dry with a leaf blower or automotive forced air blower.

Check your microfiber polishing towels before each use to make sure nothing is attached to it that can damage your car’s surface. If it hits the floor it hits the door.

Use whatever product works best for you. There are so many out there and each one is the “BEST”.

I'll agree with badbirdcage it pretty much is a never ending job to keep it pristine. Invest in a good orbital polisher and all the correct finish pads.

RonNSoCal, When you say "If you get too aggressive you can wear through the clear coat and paint" one sentence after you state you own/use
a Porter Cable 7424 amateurs reading can get mislead.

I use my PC7424, with a Meguairs 6" Micro Fiber Cutting Pad & Megs 105 Polish to remove 95% of my Clear Coat Chips and Scratches.
Ive been fairly aggressive with this and not damaged anything or gone thru any clearcoat
I then follow up the 105 with Megs 205 on a 6" White Foam Pad (Lake Country)
After the 205 You can use Any Good Sealant (Read/Buy at DetailedImage.com)
And One of The Top Quality Waxes

Anyone that gets rock chips there is not a polisher made that removes them. If you have surface blemishes and a polisher removes them they were not chips to begin with.

I just wash regularly with Meguiers Gold Class car wash, towel dry with “the absorber”, and polish with Zaino Z2.. That it.

I had my car detailed by impressions by Robert and Mike Phillips at auto geek. It took almost 2.5 days for auto correction. I have a black Vette. This was done over 2 years ago. He told me instead of waxing which I did not need use Blackfire waterless wash as a detailer. The waterless wash has more lubricity than water. I pre spray my microfiber cloth folded in quarters. I spray some on
the car and wipe side to side . No swirl marks its
so easy and takes approx 20 minutes on my Vert. When I feel like it I spray in approx
3-6 months I spay alittle Blackfire crystal sealer on it which also takes 20 minutes. It’s easy and looks
great.

saplumr, My 2012 Inferno Orange (20K miles) which I bought this year came to me in VERY NICE Condition.

The Clear coat did have many scratches and "chip" defects......Chips meaning very small chips, holes, in the Clear Coat.

Using my Porter Cable 7424, Meguairs 6" Micro Fiber Cutting Pad and Meg's 105 polish I was able to remove 95%
of these defects.
Now I do have a few other "chips" that are thru the clear coat and into the base Inferno Orange
that cant be polished out.
I did buy a Inferno Orange paint pen & Clear Pen but havent tried them yet

Best way to Preserve any car finish is to never ever use any power tools or buffers on the finish..

Everyone has their opinions but I certainly don’t agree with that and most probably would not.

I have a black C6 & here is my secret... only drive the car on weekends with no rain in the forecast. The bottom line here is to drive the car as little as possible to keep the car pristine, there is no other way, Zaino, Adams, etc do help but the elements will take their toll.. Do you want to "save" the car for the next guy people will ask...I am "saving" the car for myself
