Darwin Award: Man trapped in XLR for 14 hours nearly dies
Says the guy is going to sue GM. Fortunately he lived, but where is the shame and responsibility of the owner?

A 75-year old Cleveland man ended up trapped in his 2006 Cadillac XLR for 14 hours last month, according to a story reported by the Detroit Free Press. The owner of the car, Peter Pyros, hopped into his roadster to back out onto his driveway, but he quickly learned that the battery was dead. He was "trapped" because the doors use an electric button to activate the door latch to open the door. Since the battery was dead, the buttons did nothing.

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
And he had never read his owners manual to find out about the emergency latch! Same thing happened in a C6 a couple of years back.

Blaming GM because he is too stupid to read his owners manual. Hopefully this never makes it to trial.

Likely never see the inside of a courtroom. GM has a legion of lawyers all looking for something to do. This would be like dropping red meat into a lion's den. They will drain this guy's pockets for years in legal quagmires. This guy won't get within two zip codes of a courthouse. Only thing worse than suing GM is suing the government.

When I purchased my Corvette, the sales rep pointed out the manual door and hatch release features. I have needed to use both when batteries have failed while I was in the car.

not sticking up for stupidity (because 14hrs & he couldn't come up with something?) but some folks really are that dumb, or not mechanically inclined, or geriatric enough to panic and not think straight when they encounter a surprising stressful situation.

He must be related to the person who is suing McDonald's for 1.5 mill for not receiving enough napkins. This is our society...

And frankly, if you're that dumb, Inept, anxious, whatever... you have NO BUSINESS piloting a 400+hp machine. You shouldn't even have 100hp. You'd be a danger to everyone else around you.

These are the same idiots that drive into the ocean because their nav said to. Society needs to stop catering to the lowest common denominator and let the world take it's natural course for them.
