I expected much worse. I forsaw the sharks circling, one takes a bite and look out. So far so good. Its more for 1/2 mile events as stated above. I cant imagine I'd get into the 9's but it would be fun to try. There was a guy a month ago or so, mind you on a motorcycle, he ran off the end of the runway and died. No regrets buying it for those events.
Photo of the bracket that gets bolted to the back bumper. I had to install it crooked to make the chute end up level. The chute can be removed in minutes. The license plate covers the hole.
I dont have it on while I'm driving on the street.

I really would not mind it so much if it did not look so tacked on. If you could mount it closer to the body it would look much better.

I don’t see a “Jake”anywhere on the car. You’re losing out on credibility.
As far as the chute goes if you’re going fast enough to require deployment I don’t believe a bolt on is the way to go.

Did you cut out some of the back wall of the hatch to access the bolt through the tube or do you have enough room through the taillight holes?

I've seen some 200 mph cars with the mounting plate held on with a dozen or so 3/16" pop rivets and it worked.

Very stout 1/2 inch through bolts with nylock in the nuts not worried about those breaking. Everything is really well made from Rock Solid Motorsports. I access the bolt that goes through the main tube by reaching up between the mufflers under the bumper to remove the chute from the car. The bolt has tight tolerances but it wiggles out. I'm not a fan of the Jake logo.

Can’t argue with the rules.

If your car will reach the speed where it is required for you to participate, then that is all that matters, it stays. Not hard to explain to people.

I'd ditch it!

I got back and forth. I do wish it was a big closer to the rear bumper cover but I also understand it is away from the car for clearance of a longer decklid spoiler. I think a set of 17" wheels and drag radials with larger sidewalls would help complete the look of having the chute on.

Parachute is butt ugly.

Yeah, I think if it had 17"s with Hoosiers, skinnies up front, a 6 point roll bar and four white numbers on the windshield from the track the night before it would be better. Just having a street car with a parachute doesnt work. I'll leave it off for the shows. I'll race the car, it'll take a while to get all the right equipment, that stuff isnt cheap but thats ok. I've had other cars at the track, its a lot of fun, great hobby with great people.

For something functional to be used at events for said purpose, it's fine. But to drive around? No. At least it's where the licence plate mounts, so you really can't legally *wink wink* drive with this permanently fixed to the bumper.

Keep the chute. That's what the car is setup for, so keep it. It adds to the beauty. The car is obviously setup for racing, so show it off.
PS: Have you done a 1/2 mile yet? Those kinds of power figures, I'm guessing you are in the 190+ category? I don't know. I'm guessing wildly.
